I've never had issues with Nvidia drivers other than them occasionally interfering with hardware acceleration in Chrome. BUT I'm not a day-one updater either.

    Not necessarily.

nVidia gave us zero real numbers. All the graphs are just relative and they don't even tell us the settings. Don't forget, nVidia said the 2080Ti was twice as fast as the 1080Ti when that wasn't even close to true when the reviews hit.

Don't get me wrong. It's an exciting announcement, but this whole thing smells of nVidia over promising for pre-orders again. I expect maybe 50% frame rate jumps in normally rendered lighting titles, and maybe 70-100% more in ray tracing card on card gen over.
Won't work, no TVs support the compression needed for decent colour at 8K. Need DP 1.4 or 2.0. HDMI 2.1 isn't up to that task.

Trust me, 2080Ti drivers have been garbage.

I mean I'll happily buy a 3090 if AMD can't make something in 3080 territory but I wouldn't count them out yet. RDNA 2.0 on the Xbox Series X is 2080Ti level compute performance so it's not a jump to expect 3080 performance is coming from AMD soon. After all, the nVidia pricing announced today was $100 cheaper than the leaks. That smells to me like nVidia made a price adjustment.

Overall I'm incredibly disappointed in the lack of real frame rate information shown today. Even the "third party sort of not nVidia controlled but nVidia controlled," graphs are all just relative without any information on the actual frame rates, settings, or resolutions. Ugh. This all smells so bad of pre-order bait that it's not even funny. I hope nVidia isn't pulling another 20 series launch with the 30 series, overpromising to get maximum preorders in before the real value comparisons can be made.

I say that as someone who wants a new card, and is even tempted to pull the trigger even though I know I'll wait, but is incredibly frustrated by what appears to be smoke and mirrors from nVidia.

Too many but also not enough mods
They are definitely inflating the numbers. Media will probably release actual info either next week or a couple days before launch.

I don't have a GPU at the moment so I'm definitely getting a 3080. Can't really wait until AMDs answer which is rumored for October or November. I will probably have to take a half day at work just to get to the store early.

If it's like the 20 series they'll do it launch day, which is really kind of a kick in the pants lol.

Honestly the 3080 will be an awesome card. I expect though we will see it's roughly a 2080Ti in most games and maybe 50% better with ray tracing on. The 3070 won't even be close except in some outlier cases nVidia is using in the graphs. That's pretty much exactly what happened last gen from them lol.

It'll also be interesting to see if Intel CPUs bottleneck the 3080 and 3090. PCI-E 4.0 doesn't sound like a suggested feature of these cards. Might be a rush of AMD boards and Ryzen processors as these drop.

I'm also really curious to see the 3090 under water. If it's true that Ampere can handle overclocks in the 2.2 GHz range and stock it's only pushing 1.7 GHz... god damn the overclocked founders cards could be monsters.

Another observation, sorry for all the posts, but the 3090 is clearly just the Titan launched early. I mean they will still drop a Titan I'm sure at some point but AIBs (like Asus) have been hounding nVidia for access to the Titan level stuff since they could make a primo on that high end market. The 3090 let's nVidia sell that level of GPUs to AIBs without compromising the Titan lineup that has existed strictly under nVidia badging.

The hydro copper 3090 from EVGA is calling my name. I'm glad I can just buy it with the plate already on there now instead of dealing with the dread of removing the fans.

I think they are gonna drop the titan altogether. Next year they will all be TIs, going back to the standard on one year and the TIs the next format they use to do before the 2000 series.

I don't see any AIO cards being spectacular, sorry. A 120mm or even 240mm AIO from Asetek isn't going to cool 350 plus watts. Those coolers can't even handle 200 watt Ryzen and Intel CPUs.

Ti's or Supers are definitely coming. nVidia didn't get the manufacturing node they wanted for these cards. These cards are first gen 7nm from what's being said. The Ti's or Supers will be better, more efficient, refined UV 7nm versions.

My bad. That'll be the tits I'm sure.

I've never seen EVGAs water block cards personally. I tend to avoid their stuff since they're a bit uneven. Not even really knocking EVGA, but even with everything going on with Ryzen they refuse to build AMD boards because of their Intel payouts. I prefer companies that build for both overall. Same reason I don't buy PowerColour or Saphire AMD stuff.

I've just always had really good luck with EVGA cards, can push em and not have em fail, so I tend to stick with them for GPUs. They've taken care of me a few times when they really shouldn't have warrantied things that wasn't exactly on them lol.

Yeah I actually had a 680 from a build tenish years ago that's still kicking in a friends computer lol.

I know they make good stuff. I just wish they'd open things up a bit and not encourage single source selling which is not consumer friendly.

Thought they were using Samsung 8nm for the 30xx series? Was supposed to be 7nm but thought there was something up that made them switch?
