So i just measured mine and wtf. Level surface. Middle to rear wheel is 37.5" on the left and 36 1/8" on the right, thats if looking at the back of the truck. Taco lean is suppppsed to be on the left:confused:

Anyways, im not worried at all, no way you can notice it and im very picky. Ill try again in a different location later just for shits.

FWIW, I’ve seen this discussion on both Ford and Ram forums over the years. It’s just the build of a truck and where the fuel tank is located.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
    I have 63k on mine.

Easy way to fix taco lean, is to replace the suspension.

Im actually very happy with sport stock suspension. I find it to have excellent road manners, the only downside is you gotta go slower when offroad. I spend about 80% on road and its our only vehicle so it works perfectly fine.

I think a lot of people on TW (not saying you) just repeat the same shit over and over again, how off road and especially sport suspension sucks. Nothing wrong at all with them they are designed for their trim level.

I might go Bilstein 5100 route one day just for a 1.5-2" lift, but thats at the bottom of my wish list.

People should go drive a 2007 ranger, then they will see what a shitty suspension is. It was like riding in a 1930s truck. Truck had no springs, torsion bars and leafs only. Never failed though, anytime i went offroad it felt like truck was gonna fall apart.

I was going to say the same. Every vehicle I've owned has done this to a degree. Not sure why it is referred to as the "Taco lean."

Correct me if I am wrong, but the new Ranger (like the Hilux) has a significantly higher GVWR than the Tacoma, thus I would expect it to ride stiffer when unloaded. You can’t eat your cake and have it too?

EDIT: I fail at reading. You said 2007 Ranger. That said, I’m guessing it road stiff, at least in part, because it was built to carry more.

The reason it rode so rough was torsion bars up front and rear being so light and im guessing. The rear suspension was quite stiff. Those trucks were a bit overbuilt yes. I had almost a ton in the back, no problem. Everytime you drive it, you feel like you are in a f150, then you get out, look at it and go "oh , its so small"

That little guy never let me down though, took lots of abuse. I wish i could have kept it.

Yes, those hitachis do a great job for what they are. Did that silverado have torsion bars up front?

Im sure torsion bars are more reliable, but it feels like riding on bricks.

I brought it partly because I was watching a Ronny Dahl video the other day where he was comparing the GVWR rating of various rigs and it was the first time I noticed that the Tacoma is quite the lightweight. It wasn’t something I cared a lot about when I bought the truck because I needed the truck to get me to work, tow my boat, do some off-roading, and occasionally haul a friend’s couch.

It’s unclear to me why torsion bars would change the ride quality because i suspect you could design them to have exactly the same spring rate as coil springs. There might be other factors at work here like suspension travel.

Im not too sure but my ranger rode very rough. Felt almost like front leaf suspension. Suspension with torsion bars are known to have a rougher ride.
