Have fun with that process! It’s all worth it in the end though.

Bear season started today in NH and VT. Didn’t see any bear but had a lot of fun getting to places I thought I would.

I got a call from the Red Sox season ticket retention sales guy today...He wanted me to answer a few questions as to why I chose not to renew...so I called back...
So I told him I didn't see any reason to support a team that doesn't respect their fans...
    He was all "Wha?"
I said 1. You didn't sign Mookie. If it was a bad relationship that led to him leaving it was 100% the fault of management. You had the best 5 tool player in 25+ years leave.
    2. Management outright insulted every one of the 34,000 fans when they told everyone via a press conference that they apologized to Tori Hunter for his claims that he was called racist names from chanting groups of fans and pointed it out to security and asked to have them removed. The Red Sox said they believe his claims. They didn't bother to seek out any audio or video proof of the instances. He said he was called it "Hundreds of times" in Fenway HUNDREDS. And not a single bit of evidence exists. Not a single vendor, security guard, fan, camera or microphone captured any of these interactions...But the Red Sox apologize and shit all over their fans.
Instead of saying "We believe that's what he thinks he heard but we have, as of yet, not substantiated these claims"
Later when confronted Red Sox management admitted they had no evidence of a single one of these HUNDREDS of claims...
I pointed out that when management says "Yup, our fans are all racists, we're sorry" it perpetuates the stereotype that Boston is a racist city which then leads to players not wanting to play here. It's hard enough to get a pitcher to want to pitch in a stadium with a giant wall at 300Ft and the first 2 months and last 2 months of games being under 60F...now we also have to deal with trying to get a player to "Overlook the 34,000 racists"
It was mind boggling to see the management handle this that way. I've been to over 100 games. I've heard a LOT of things yelled. I have NEVER heard that word yelled at a black player. We have 34,000 cell phone cameras, field mics, fans...NEVER heard it. If I had it would have been reported to security and the person would have been ejected...It wouldn't have been what he said,

Hunter recalled a specific instance when "four or five" kids chanted the "N-word" at him during a game at Fenway. What disturbed him most was that no one in the stands asked the kids to stop.

My guess is he is misremembering what he heard through his filter of what he believes he heard....It was probably the "Tooooori.....Toooori..."

So that's what I told him...

He was like "Wow...Um...Thank you for sharing your feedback. I really never thought about that angle..."

So I said "I'm sure you're going to march right up to the owners and let them know what a mistake they've made, right.." and then I laughed and so did he "I know you're just a sales guy on the phone but if you ever do get a chance let them know what a horrible mistake that was. It did nothing but damage the entire organization by capitulating like that. They just flat out called all the fans racists and that pisses me off because I don't know Boston to be the racist city it was in the 1970's with forced busing and people yelling from the upper deck of the garden..."

Pulled the trigger on a set of BP51s for the truck. Now I can't wait to get them in.

Not a bright idea letting Betts leave.

Horrible move not investigating the Hunter claims. If it really happened hundreds of times and security was involved at least once, there's got to be some further evidence even if just speaking to personnel.

I had a similar problem with an employee there several years ago who refused to allow me to use the family bathroom during a concert saying it was only for people with children, and then waved someone else into the bathroom who was by himself. I questioned them and was told "oh well you were distracting me" bullshit I was when you looked right at them. I sent an email to the front office asking why this occurred and explained in detail my appearance and that of the employee and other person. Never heard back.

Same reason I cancelled my ESPN subscription a few years ago. I was asked why and said "well since you allowed one of your people on TV to make a blanket statement about Boston, you must feel I'm racist and therefore you don't want my $50 a year anyway"

O it was fine for me. I like going fast and using the ole left foot for braking. But in a group with comes that don't reach that far in the dense forests it can be tough.

No worries, this is one hair brained idea I need to likely let go of... i’ll drive myself nutty trying to ‘fix’ the emissions system on this truck. I need to just accept what it is, run it and fix what breaks if and when it breaks.
