Why can’t I fit 265/70/16 tires on my truck ? the 265/70/16 tires will rub a little bit . I had to settle for the 245/70/16 size instead

 

I run a 265/70/17 street tire and a 265/75/16 snow tire. Zero issues.

Do you have some sort of crazy high offset on those wheels?

 

Its probably rubbing on the small flaps on the front

 

It rubs the back of the tire against the fender liners . Would it be a bad idea to remove the plastic fender liners to fit the 265/70/16’s?

 

When was the last time you had an alignment?

 

What spec of wheel are you running. Before I lifted my truck I had the 265 75 16s on stock rims and only have to remove the small flaps.

 

Post a pic of where exactly it rubbed. It could be an alignment issue or wheel specs as others are saying. Removing your wheel liners introduces dirt and debris into your intake. You can reroute that but it’s another ordeal. Behind the liners, there’s also the pinch weld that would slice your tires if that’s where it’s rubbing. Pinch weld can be flattened then sealed

 

You have something else going on. I have a 15 with Michelin defenders 265/70/16’s and no problems.

 

Agreed I have 255/80/17's on the truck and even with no lift it barely rubbed

 

You have a 2WD or 4WD?

As long as your wheels are stock or don’t a crazy high offset you shouldn’t be rubbing anything!

Probable wheel offset. I had all kinds of problems getting 265/70-17 on. Eventually did a 2” lift.

 

I put 265/75/16 on my 2015 and it rubbed against the small flaps in front of the front tires. Took em off. No rubbing.

 

The truck in the OPs profile looks low. Is that a DCSB 5 lug?

 

I don't think it is. DC 5 lugs are quite rare (at least around here) and didn't come with fender flares

 

Yes, DC 5 lugs are rare, but they’re out there and they all came with flares.

That explains why you can’t put 265/70/16 tires on it, which is a factory size for a 6 lug Taco.
