for reference here’s the compressor behind the s/c tensioner assy. On my pickup. Notice how the clutch is a little more shiny than the rest of it.

So basically, labor is justified. I'm also doing the AC thing recommended about flush or whatever.

    Appreciate all tips!

Edit: on phone, multiple mess is lol

it’s not a terrible amount for a dealer I guess. If I did it again I’d also have installed a new serpentine belt and supercharger belt at the same time. Cause you gotta remove all the same shit for the serp belt, and the s\c belt is right there.

True dat. I replaced that SC belt once but I don't remember when. It was a huge pain for me...

Maybe I can get him to throw a new belt on...

I wouldn’t pay anymore labor for it, just the price of the belt. It’s the best time to get it taken care of

Nah, think I could probably already get them to just throw it on... but I looked and my belt actually looked pretty!! So I'll pass I guess.

So I have it scheduled for Sunday, approximately $340 but there's a 25% off coupon that I can use. Also, a 50% off synthetic oil change I might as well do while we're down there I guess also. Could be better could be worse. Not having AC in this Florida heat is a killer, especially when it rains :/

As an update, dropped it off Sunday and paid for a 6 hour rental ($20) so we could chill at home. Went to return rental and pick up truck when we were notified a spacer is needed that didn't come with compressor. They tried to use old one but still needed more space. They said keep the rental until Tuesday or Wednesday when spacer will come in. It's like an only from Toyota part or some thing...

The hubbs was using rental for work today when it got a flat. He switched it over (after almost being jumped- it was seedy area) and drove on donut for a bit. Once home, they said they'd need to tow it back to dealership. They took rental back at 2030.

So we'll see what tomorrow brings...

As an update, called me yesterday to say that something was damaged and it damaged the new compressor. So we need a new compressor... Again. I also need a new "line" or something because that was damaged (which ultimately damaged the new compressor). All in all, the new line or whatever is covered under the warranty now. I think the mechanic messed something up but I'm not really sure... So it'll be a few days until this line or whatever comes in.

I realize issues arise during repairs but so far it doesn't seem like the "tech" is all that bright being backed by a typical full of crap assistant to the assistant "service manager"(third shift). Hopefully they can get it together properly and get you on your way. Good luck!

The tech cross threaded it and damaged the new compressor along with the line... how they get all of that covered under the warranty still is beyond me, but I guess it's how the write it ...

So the AC line will not be in until October 2nd. Although, the new compressor did come in!

    This definitely escalated quickly lol

Edit: I'm looking into the 100k mile service since it'll be there a while. I think I need to flush my coolant and power steering for sure. Did the tranny drain and refill and did the spark plugs. I think that's it.

Picking up truck tomorrow from dealership!

The battery is dead though and they said even after jumping it, won't hold charge

My husband put 6000 miles on the rental they gave us in the 6 or so weeks we had it. They gave us a new Tacoma, had like 3k on the odometer... So, it really wasn't bad :)

The only bummer was we had seat covers and a few other accessories to put on the Taco that we've had to wait on. Also, my husband got accustomed to the newer Taco, but since ours is fairly recently paid off, we need to drive it into the ground and save money (baby on the way). Hence, bought a few accessories to spruce it up...

    Cheers!
