Not sure I'd generalize it by entire states. Each area depends on who is uploading trails and completeness can vary a lot between local areas. I use TF most of the time but also check MTBP in new areas to see if anything is missing. Quite often each app has something the other doesn't. In rare cases one might be missing most of or an entire trail system. I find TF to be pretty good in CA. It is definitely more user friendly.

I have no problem paying to use it even if data is crowd sourced from users for free. There is a lot of work on the app to make it work and compile that data so we can all access it. The people who do that work are not working for free. There is still lots of room to improve the app so hopefully this fee allows them to do some nice upgrades.

I have had an accident benefit plan for many years. If I am involved in any sort of accident like a car crash, bike crash, or fall it will cover any out of pocket medical expenses up to $10k. This can include deductibles, copays, out of network costs, prescriptions, equipment like braces/crutches, etc.

It does not cover any costs associated with illness or other medical issues. It's not like Aflac in that it doesn't cover any living expenses.

I signed up for it years ago when I was off work and had a high deductible health insurance plan, I think the out of pocket max was $7k. I was doing lots of road trips and figured if I had a crash and broke something that required surgery I'd blow through that whole $7k in one go. I actually put in a claim a couple years ago when I tore my ACL in a crash and had surgery. The total bills for the surgery, physio and everything was close to $60k. Actual cost to insurance was around $13k of which I paid $4k as my out of pocket max. I was able to claim that entire amount. It was nice not having to absorb that whole financial hit and in the end I had zero out of pocket for that surgery.

I'll continue to pay for this insurance since riding seems to result in surgery about once every 4-5 yrs for me.

I can't say who my policy is with as I honestly don't know. I think the company was sold. The name I pay money to differs from who wrote me the check and both are not who I originally signed up with. If you're interested in something like this I'd try and track down and insurance broker who deals with a number of companies. They should be familiar with the various options.

What do you guys think about the 2020 Rocky Mountain Slayer A50? I found a good deal on one through a local rental bike sale. I'm coming off a 2012 StumpJumper which I recently sold and I want to get a bigger bike that I can ride more aggressive trails on. I recently started riding bike parks a lot but still want something that pedals well on the local trails.

Just not sure if this would be too much bike since it's 180mm front/rear travel. I figured if I don't like it, I'd be able to sell it and make a profit for how low I'm getting it for and just find something else.
For reference, I'd be getting the slayer for $2,400.

    Any thoughts?

Insurance to pay for insurance. Gotta love healthcare in the US. I'm not criticizing that you have this, because it sounds like it's a reasonable option for you, just the fact that something like this is even needed.

Do it! Just make sure the bike isn’t clapped out before you buy it.

Alright I think I'm going to pull the trigger then.

I checked out their bikes last week and honestly it seemed like most of them haven't been ridden much this season. Maybe due to the short season and Covid?
But either way, I will be stopping by next Monday to get it and I will make sure to do a thorough check before I commit.
I'll be sure to update you guys with some pics!

Send it north. It was great last weekend and now it is supposed to get hot again this weekend. Going camping and biking farther north in Island Park, ID this weekend. Good thing they have lots of trees. But not much for single track or dedicated bike trails. It is all pretty much 4wheeler and sxs stuff so I will have to be out extra early. It is super powdery up there.

Anyone near Angel Fire? I only have the new Spur right now, but was thinking about spending the day riding the blues and greens at AF on Tuesday. Hit me up if you're close.

Good thing about rotating off days is weekday rides with empty trails.

Check out the Boundary shuttle. Perfect ride for you. I think they’re running it.

I think I’m around SLC next week. Anyone wanna shuttle Crest to PC?

When? I'm interested, but things have been mayhem lately with my job, baby, and wife with a broken wrist.

Also, trying to get to moab next weekend. Forecast is looking like 80s by Thurs/Fri.
