There is one of those Lincoln welders sitting in the corner of my folks garage. It has been there my entire life (over 30 years). I remember once as a kid a friend of my Dad's coming over to use it. That was the only time I ever saw it used. I guess it still works?

Probably does. Look at post 1436 and you can see how much there is to go wrong inside the unit. Not much stuff in there.

Stick welding really isn't that hard, I'm sure you can find a video online of how to get started. Have any friends who weld? They could show you.

I taught my son, he was 5 in this picture but it is a mig welder.

Yeah I could probably YouTube mechanic it or I do have some friends that weld. I also have a Kubota that needs a couple bucket hooks and maybe a hitch receiver.

Swapped out the blades on the Ferris yesterday. My helper approves. Grass got away from me, old blades are toast. Went a little slower than usual, new blades are high lift. These blades throw grass, even the really tall clippings in a smooth fashion. No clumps even though it was a bit damp.

Also had three ground hornet nests. Got them killed off over two days. About four “puffs” of drione dust in each and there was zero activity after the second day of application to each. I had them marked with flags, but painted the holes yellow before I mowed so I wouldn’t lose them.

Finally stepped up to a zero turn. Had a Husqvarna rider for 10 years and it was time.
Sold the old mower in an hour on Facebook and split the funds to my 2 boys. The 6 year old got all the stuff needed to rebuild his go kart, and the 3 year old got his first tool chest.
    Everyone’s happy!

Thanks! It’s a learning curve driving it. I save so much time over mowing with the tractor style, I just need to learn to ease up on the turns to save my turf!
I’m hoping that I can instill some desire to fix, build & maintain their stuff. It’s a different time growing up now, trying to keep the kids off screens and have them show interest in hands on stuff.
Been peeping on your fab/weld, etc thread in the workshop forum, incredible work and great work including your kid!

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Do what I did - when I got my first Z-turn, I put out the word that I would "for free" mow any of my neighbors yards. Of course I told then WHY , and said I would fix any spots I messed up. Actually I did pretty well as I guess I was more careful on their yards than my own.
Also I found out if you upgrade or change brands --there is another learning curve --just not as severe.

Guy I know cleared a lot about 1/4 of a mile away. I ask if I could get a little dirt from the pile he had pushed up. He said have at it. Needed a scoop where we had the stump ground a couple weeks ago and also where I leveled the garden out and planted grass. Got 4 scoops. Cole said he would shovel it where it needs to be. I said have at it buddy. I did sew grass and spread hay where the stump was.

I picked these tires up May 12th, just now thinking about putting them on. Got to looking at the rear rims and I need one rim on each 140 because of the calcium that has been in them since the 1970’s has eaten the valve stem area badly and also around where they bolt to the centers. I’m going to put these 2 tires on 2 new rims and swap my good rim to the good tire on the other 140.

Took me 30 minutes but I got one mounted. I’ll do the other one tomorrow, maybe.

I was wondering if you were going to mount those. I did a lot of 24.5s when I worked truck fleet. Hardest tires I've mounted were 8" front GT tires. Stiff little beads. How well did those seat on the beads?

These seated great, I put a little dawn dish washing liquid on them to help slide them on easier. I agree, the smaller the rim the harder to mount! I think I'll eventually load these with windshield washer fluid, I can get it pretty cheap and I need 35 gallons per tire.

These tires are 8 ply and stiff as a board. When I ordered them I didn't specify what ply.
