Just replace that shitty system with a catch can or an air/oil separator!

With only 800 miles on my STi, I had a considerable amount of blow-by sitting in my intercooler. I installed an IAG air/oil separator, and my intake is clean as a whistle now!

All that oil vapor will do is plug up your EGR system. Its all bad news.

Dura-tracs upwards of $305 off Through this weekend if you use a Goodyear CC. I used it 2 years ago on Black Friday; paid in full before first pmt was due and and got the $250 rebate with no hiccups/issues.

If you plan on staying in the area, keep an eye out for properties you might be interested in. I was paying less to own my home than I was for a 1 bed apartment that was infested with mice and was falling apart.

My plan in a few years is to buy another house with my GF (if she tolerates me long enough  ) and rent this house out. Being the landlord vs being the tenant is a winning strategy! I was paying about $675/mo for the mortgage. I could easily rent the 2 bed 2 bath with a "2" car garage for probably $1,200-1,400.

Where were you living? That's nasty...That's one thing I could never tolerate about shared wall living...you could be immaculate but one filthy neighbor and it's a lost cause...

Oh yeah I totally agree. My wife and I pay 1300/month plus electric and cable/internet. We tried buying last summer but weren't pre-approved for what we were shooting for because our student loan debt, cars, etc. Plan right now has been paying down as much as we can (her car will be paid off this year) plus we both moved jobs down this way so in the long run, not buying last year worked out for us.

Home loans/banks always make me laugh a little, like "yes I see that you pay over $1,000 every month on rent and utilities, oh and manage to pay all of your bills early or on time? Sorry we can't possibly approve you to own a home where you would be paying less than you would be now!"

But wanna take out multiple loans and amass over hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt to go to school and get a degree that in some cases people don't even use? Fuckin A right bud! Sign here...here...annnnnnnnnnnnnnd here!

IN HOOKSET!? WHAT THE FLYING F! It was 2016 to 2017, sure a few years ago but not like "back in my day 20 years ago rent was cheaper", I was paying 1200/mo for a 2 bed 1 bath, IN Providence, RI. A busy, want to live in, city. In a decent area, decent enough place, etc etc. I would laugh in the face of a landlord asking for that in HOOKSET. (I grew up in Southern NH....)

Once it happens you'll get preapproved for way more than you should spend. We got pre-app for like 325, our max, absolute max our budget allowed was 250 if we really wanted the house, we were looking more at 225. We lucked out - looked at a neighboring house at 210 but, hey, this one had an open house, 245 but worth a look. The pictures were horrible on Zillow etc. so nobody came out, house was kick ass and we paid about 235 for it. A few above our budget but this house needed nothing from us. Except some mustard yellow paint in the kitchen had to go. Otherwise, move in, done. We did a dishwasher but, I don't count that. Other houses we looked at would have needed carpet, walls, etc etc etc a ton of work.

Anyway, short of it - heck, if you find a plot you like out that way, buy it. You can build whenever, but the plot will go soon. Modern pre-fabs etc make the cost of building a house a lot lower than it used to be.

It was in North Conway right near Cranmore. The house was old as hell, and this was what I suspected to be a converted garage. It wasn't a matter of neighbors being gross or whatever, it was just not sealed well and mice had ways in.

On top of that, I just remembered that the propane heater in the living room would frequently blow out because of where they put the exhaust/intake on the building. I would come home from work and it would be 40 degrees in the dead of winter. I had a dog at the time (now we have two) and was absolutely livid that he was at risk for God knows how long while I was at work, and the chill wouldn't leave the apartment for hours and hours. I'm not paying $800/mo to be cold and uncomfortable.

FHA loans were interesting as well when I was looking for financing. You can get this with X down, BUT OH MY GOD THE WELL IS HOW CLOSE TO THE SEPTIC?!?!?!?! HOUSE DOESN'T QUALIFY!!!!!!!

I feel like they're picky about mortgages because they don't want to go through the hassle of foreclosures.

I feel like this is highly situationally and locale dependent. We had zero problems, as did my sister. We bought in a post war neighborhood in East Prov, sister bought in an established but not too old neighborhood in Needham, MA. Both times we had an average house, location, etc.

Once you start getting into the boonies (or "boonies") where you have more land and more stuff to happen, it goes haywire real quick. The selectivity is coming more from the house and less from the applicants, they're still a bit fast and loose with pre-approvals. Like I said our budget said we should be absolute MAX 250 on a stretch, realistically 225 max. We got pre approved traditional (don't remember if length was a term for preapproval it was a while ago) 30 year around 325. I'm sure in theory we could have done it, but no thank you! We actually lost our first realtor because she kept showing us 275+ because of the preapproval, pressuring us into a bigger house/what if we have kids/forever home etc.

    You racist..haha

They have gotten more picky than they were before the crash in 2008. Before the thought was "oh we can just take the house" well not as easy when nobody else has money to buy them, or when the house has extensive damage".

Yeah, our realtor we ended up with actually told us he'd heard about her before and that's her strategy, she convinces enough people to buy higher that the clients she loses (us) make less money so she doesn't care. :notsure:

Really wasn't a fan of that strategy. I could see the look on my guy's face when I told him, he had to be professional in what he said.

The stock set up IS an air/oil separator... You can't simple throw a catch can in the middle of it like I did with my F150. The connections aren't just hoses which is why there aren't a lot of catch can options available.
That's the catch can kit I was looking at and hoping to avoid. The install of that is certainly manageable but pretty involved for a catch can. You have to pull quite a few things apart to get that thing situated in there. It's also an expensive kit but, carb compliant which is interesting.

What I'm considering is, there are kits that simple take the CCV and run it to a hose to the bottom of the truck. It eliminates the whole air/oil seperator assembly but obviously isn't emissions compliant. What I don't understand is the reasoning. Is it gasses, oil or both. If it's dripping oil, a catch can on the end of the hose would solve the issue. Gasses, it wouldn't resolve.

no they don’t, but good year doesn’t allow some one to show support for blue lives, all lives and a bunch of other things. But you can wear your BLM stuff all you want.

Meh. GY clarified on that one; that was something that an individual plant manager wrote up on his own, trying to demonstrate (poorly) to his employees what was and wasn't acceptable. Goodyear released a statement that the slide didn't reflect their actual official positions.

    https://gray-wibw-prod.cdn.arcpubli...shing.com/gray/AW64U6LYYFFLHL6AGHC47U3GYQ.png

FWIW, we do a lot of business with GY and they supply a lot of municipalities. They offer discounts to law enforcement, first responders, military, etc. So I was surprised when that slide popped up, and their explanation makes sense to me. :notsure:
