    Maybe Toyota should try to poach some of Ford’s tuners

    If only they had a 2 range transfer case. My dad had a first gen and loved it. The lack of xfer case made it a no-go for me back when I was looking to get my first truck.

    @johntoyota

    don't know if the 2.0 he refers to includes performance tunes with map switching or if these are the basic.

    Just flashed the newest 5.29 speed delete test file from @OVTune . Will hopefully be able to test it out this evening. Not super easy to run to 90mph+ in this pig.

    So many times, I would love to borrow a runway for a few minutes. TopGear / The Grand Tour envy.

    It is funny when checking out aircraft at the local airport, I'll see some of the emergency crews doing a sweep of the runway looking for FOD. Sometimes, they'll get a nice run at it.

    so far ive got a few k on my 2.0, runs good. runs awesome on stock tires haha. (26mpg highway good) ill put stock tires on when i tow, give the truck all its power back.
    im also running 89 on the 87-89 tune. seems to be a good balance.

    Probably should be another thread but.....

    What alternatives to this disappointing truck have you considered ?
    Will another Gen III Tacoma with a stick be any better ? Tundra ? a used Gen II ? or SOB ?

    I've had Toyota PU's for so long I have a hard time seeing the value in any other truck.... :(

    5.7 Tundra, been test driving it for the last few days and it has been great, handles surprisingly well which was my biggest concern in getting a big heavy truck.

    The perfect replacement is probably a nice condition 4.7L first gen Tundra which I will probably get as a secondary truck. Same dimensions as a Tacoma with bad mpg but a pretty decent power with this V8. Only gripe is the outdated interior.

    The 2016 auto made me sad, so i traded for a 2017 manual. It was WAY better. It still has its quirks which were fixed by the ADM and tune. No real complaints now.

    The tundra is also awesome.

    Just got a Ranger as a rental, a little bit of turbo lag, but man that thing was smooth and got up to speed quick. Toyota needs to get more than 6 speed transmissions...
