    Lots of sail boat fuel
$900 ($1k with extras) for the complete rear + core exchange.

I believe it was about another $700 in shipping and the front.

If you're lifting and need the right gearing, it's really a pretty sweet setup

Sorry to hear that man. Do you by chance have the v6? Ive heard some people say the atkinson engine contributes to some of those negative happenings. But, then again, ive heard people with a 2.7 dislike the trans too. Maybe im lucky, or, maybe my trans feels like shit and i just dont notice yet lol

The more gears, the more gear hunting. I almost went with an F150, but the Tacoma fit my lifestyle better. But that 10 speed was a constant source of debate in the several years of truck research I did.

I think the transmission is fine, but I dislike the shift into 3rd gear and, to a lesser extent, fourth.. The truck initially bogs, then revs, then settles. I surmise this is due to the TC engaging, disengaging, and then reengaging after the shift to third.

Yes I have the V6. I have since modified the shift tables and throttle limit tables using vF Tuner software and no longer have any complaints, get better mileage now too.

Best way I can describe it is the stock software would encourage slow acceleration, and would reluctantly allow fast acceleration, but was frustrating if you wanted moderate acceleration, always bogging or over revving.

Judging by complaints, this doesn’t bother probably most people. But for those of us it bothered, it REALLY bothered.

From an engineering side of things, it may be better than the 5 speed on paper, but the hate against it is warranted IMO. The transmission behavior is the first thing I noticed on a test drive and is literally the reason I couldn't buy it.

I tested a handful over a couple years (2016-2019) trying to make myself like it, but going from a 190 HP truck with a 4 speed auto to this new setup just didn't feel like the improvement 20+ years should result in. High end power is obviously way better, anything over 2.5k rpm really, but low end and just cruising it is more annoying to drive because of the constant gear hunting. (The 1st gen has around 1lb less weight per ft-lb torque, and your peak torque is lower in the rev range.)

I have driven other 6 speeds that are much more normal than this. 8 speeds smoke this transmission in terms of driveability, so it has nothing to do with having more gears. I have driven a Ram 1500 and a couple BMWs with the ZF 8 speed, and that transmission is such a wonderful piece of engineering with no annoyances.

2 overdrives sucks. Mostly I want a lower reverse. Like a lot lower.

The tranny is fine for me, it’s the cruise control on the highway going 75 or above that makes it act erratic. Drive by wire works fine.

Way better? I don't think it can be any better. I know my buddies 2019 trd has a few weird quirks at times, but generally its not bad enough to complain about.

I rarely drive above 75 with the cruise control set....usually set it at 70 for highways here. I've set mine at 75 to see if this stuff happens, and it still works fine. Didn't go any higher.

I love the F150. I just wish they didn't fall apart after 150K miles

I mean, you're not wrong, that helps (the transmission issues at least). I just don't really care for the ford 10 speed personally.
