Hey guys, I made my first edits in VFT today and attempted to flash. At first it did not pass the security checks but after retry it did and started the expected flash. At the end of the flash process it was telling me that it was corrupted. It offered a retry but the same result. I then shut the truck off completely and retried the process. This time it would not even do the identify. I then wen back to the old flashing tool and flashed the prior final .pf5 file with no issue.

Has anyone else had trouble like me? I just edited the alternator vals and exported a new .vft. Then from within VFT I kicked off the flash tool to end up with a bad flash. I am going to try it again but does it sound like I am missing any steps? Likely all user error but I'm missing it. -cheers

Good point. Well, looks like OvTune has given us a guidance range, time to put the ol butt dynos to work!

I guess if I were to play with it, I’d try to inch it higher, to improve mid rpm high load torque? Does that make sense?

The only time ive had an issue was when I tried to flash a vft file with the toyflash utility (1.3.1) instead of the one with vF tuner (1.3.2)

    That makes sense to me.

This engine has always been good over 3,500. It was everything below that at part and full throttle that made me crazy.

It is funny, but I had similar experiences with most of my motorcycles, esp my Duc. They all ran like crap in the bottom end, where it was most important. Easy-ish fixes though.

hmmm, well I did start it from within VFT but I will double-check my process and retry tonight. Thanks for the affirmation!

Do you think that dip in torque is from the flow path momentarily transitioning?

I was just looking at 04b14 files and the second one you have (ACIS Activation RPM High) I’m seeing a value of 25600.78

The others show up the same in 04b14

Click save in VFT on the edited tune. Then click Export and save that file to your tunes folder, I used a diff file name noting the edit I made. Then click the grey gear icon in VFT and flash that file you just saved. This worked for me the first tune I edited and flashed as well.

Check pages 103-106 of the VFT pdf guide for more details

    Interesting lol.

I just want to know how the low and high settings interact, and what the "breakpoint" does.

Stock settings are 3650 high and 2700 low.

Thanks, that was the process I attempted but I'm just not sure what cause the failure. Retrying in a bit...tick/tock

Interesting, like @Shellshock mentioned, be sure to use the flash tool from within vft. Unsure if that makes a diff, but I tried the toyota flash manager link to the p5f flash tool and it didn't work the first time.

I was able to flash a p5f on it so my heart attack abated until the method I described worked

I've been looking into this for some time and could not make sense out of it.
I have 2.0 set to 2700 low ( but there is that weird value 25600.78 for low and high) and 3650 for high.
But in real live, ACIS activates at 2420-2460 rpms. In some case It would stay opened for 30 sec, causing effect of hang rpms.

I just went through it all again and it flashed fine...so I dunno what I did based on my steps. I am getting old though. 14.7 before any the load (lights/AC). On to accel tweaks this weekend..

That's alright. Just the other day, I was getting flash failures. Both the front doors were open. We closed them and got a flash successful. I asked if having the doors open was a problem, and folks said no. LoL!

Question for y'all, I'm an og dongle crew who traded in And has 04b04 ecu and it's tune pack in VFT

If I want to flash other ecu ids, I need the credits for vft but do I also need to buy a tune pack for that ecu? I'm slightly confused about the tunes for other ids.

Sorry if this has been asked already
