I like what you did as well. Great idea. I would love that information on how you did that too

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
I appreciate the offer. Let me look into how much work it's going to be to do it the way I had envisioned first.

Does anyone know how to get the gray/silver part of the trim off? I’m trying to remove it so I can paint it

Crap. Just screwed up the painting of my climate control rings. Used the wrong paint for the base coat. :frusty:

Took me an hour and a half to mask those suckers, too. Ah well, at least I know now that I can strip them down pretty easy with some xylene (discovered this during my last painting misadventure).

I would think it’s just a bunch of clips holding it on so pry it off but not 100% sure. Look for screws on the back side and start disassembling...

I did that. There are some screws on the back. But when I unscrew them I discovered they were enclosing a massive circuitboard. Couldn’t find any clips that would just remove the gray portion. I don’t know if I need to go on and remove the circuit board, and there could be some more screws underneath there, but that makes me very nervous to do that. Hoping someone else has removed theirs previously and can give me some wisdom before I go and mess something up

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought of led strips. Could be some possibilities there.

In the grand scheme of things, I'd like to use the off-door-on switch in the roof console to control just the dome and foot well lights (maybe some puddle lights later). The map lights would be independent (push for on/off) and the switch on the dome light fixture would be disabled (it's awkward to get to anyway).

yeah, I used LED strips on my last truck and it worked great. I just use 3M tape to mount them. Gives a lot of flexibility in where you can mount the lights. They’re bright enough, but not too bright. I’m using a separate switch for mine as I want to be able to have mine on sometimes when driving too, as a subtle accent light, similar to the door bowl lighting.

Pulling the door panel off and doing all the work on a work bench is much easier IMO.

Nice work on the pipe, but what really impresses me is how clean (not rusty) the underside of your truck is. Must be nice living in a salt-free part of the Country.

Look up the DSIM switching relay. This will tie in the footwell lights into your interior dome light. You could also then parallel in the manual switch you had custom made.

Thanks , going back to manual transmission was like riding a bike. First vehicles bought were manuals because automatic was more expensive. Lots of fun

Changed out the dash speakers to the Subaru kit so many recommended, amazing difference from just those. Have front door speakers on order to do this weekend!
