I went from a 18 AT to a 20 MT and asked Matt if I need to do anything to switch the tune to my new truck. Never heard anything back so I just tried it. Picked the right tune for for the new ECU ID and hit Flash It and it worked just fine. This was with the flash manager, with VF tune you'll have to have credits for the new ECU ID.

Yeah I'm still on flash manager and p5f files. Haven't switched to vf tuner yet.

I have a ‘20 MT. The ECU ID is the same - 4B90.
I got mine tuned the other night.

always good to check the ECU ID before going forward.

Yup, it’ll good to go. From I learned from others is that most ‘20 MT have one ECU ID.

They hybrid? My mom has a 17 (non hybrid) and I’m fairly sure its a normal cheap lead acid

Are you having an issue getting the necessary charging voltage?
    Battery charging too slow?

    Need to better understand why.

Ok, I'll investigate. I need to pinpoint what Toyota has an AGM and also outputs higher voltages for that AGM.

One thing there. This has come up in the past. The timeframes a long and would seem to require that the battery not go into a draw mode. Here's an early part of the discussion:

If I had to guess though there is some custom code for the hybrid battery controls on toyotas

Which is the case with AGM chargers at home since most folks let them connected for weeks at a time.

A sparky that I know suggested running battery tenders on a Christmas light timer. Only about 4hrs per night. The equivalent of a nice, long ride everyday. He was getting 10yrs plus on motorcycle batteries that struggle to last a few years.

So do I, but only 4hr per day.

I have never had a problem taking a drained battery from flat to full charge with a 1.5A float charger. It can take most of a day to do it though. I've seen it with 10Ah, 12Ah, and 16Ah batteries in the past.

Ive been running mine at 14.4v and haven’t had any issues over the last few months. I figure my truck sits enough or is going on short trips that i don’t really have anything to worry about.

If the battery dies, i have a 5 year warranty :notsure:

I’ve done 2 long trips so far (10+ hours) and mine hasn’t blown up.

You could always set it for like 14.2 if you are doing more driving and worried about it

Yo so I'm.way behind. I flashed a while ago and forgot about it and moved on. I've been running 14.6-14.7 volts for a few months with no issues. I frequently drive 2-3 hours to wheel it. It's not often we drive more than 4-5 hours. Am I at any serious risk of anything? I remember Odyssey telling me their AGMs love 14.7v FWIW

So far not a single person has reported to us any battery failures after tuning the alternator settings. I think melmantaco wants to just look into in a "just in case"

I would think the best check would be to plug into the OBD and monitor a trip or two. See if it exceeds 14.7v and how long it might. A bit more or a bit less is no issue.

Pretty sure you cannot exceed 14.7 volts, there is a hard limit in the ECU if you go past 14.7 you get a check engine light
