Sept 18/20 East TN - MTB Ride and Camp

I've personally ridden with Mr. Jack and can vouch for him. His favorite trail is Bennett Gap

 

Thanks! I’m excited to ride somewhere else. I think Black Mountain was my favorite though.

I’ve heard that one before. Some guy with absolutely no recollection of how a trail is said that I think.

Camping? Two nights?

 

Hopefully so. At a minimum 1 night on Saturday.

 

Ok. I have not heard back from Kat or anyone yet, but I found that they book through Airbnb (hipcamp calendar wouldn't work for me). It looks like there is only one site available and they limit it at 2 per site, so hopefully I'll hear back from them soon. I think I will book the site for 2 right now and see if I can add onto that once I talk to someone. Hopefully this works out. If not, are there any backup locations worth considering?

 

That is the best campsite by far, I can reach out to Kat personally and see if multiple folks stay at a site

 

I sent her a message on FB and also a message with the booking reservation on Airbnb this morning. At this point I have one site for 2 people for the 18-20th. It didn't say anything about only 1 vehicle so hopefully 2 is ok.

 

Well I’ll be at the beach from the 18th to 21st. Mom planned a family trip, so can’t turn down free room.

 

Me too, but with the in-laws. Glad to know I won’t be working that weekend, but not excited about the beach. Much rather be riding bikes. Can’t put a value on quality time with my kids though.

Last call on camping sites for the 18-20.

There is a group site available if needed or Kat said she can give us a group rate on a creekside site. Waiting for clarification on what that means, how many can be on creekside.

So far only @SummitBound is in for Sat and maybe Friday and jjones.yota is a maybe for both nights.

I'm going to make the end of today the cut off so that I can lock in whichever site we need before it's gone.

Anyone know if Stronghammer is coming? @honda50r

Edit: ok, group site is separated from the others and good for up to 6 campers. I'm going to book it and it will be the same rate of $20/night to me for whoever stays, that way we have flexibility for whatever happens and any late add-ins.

 

I’m a for sure Saturday night, only a maybe for Friday. good with whatever site.

Also, don’t count him coming.

The group site is booked and we are good for up to 6. If only 2 or 3 show, more room to spread out. There is a ditch that some vehicles may not be able to cross to access that site, but Kat said there is parking available so we can carry stuff in.

 

Yeah right! We are on an offroad forum after all

 

I figured it wouldn't be an issue, but wasn't sure if everyone had a truck.

Looking forward to this! Trying to get in some big miles this week and then some easy rides next week so I'm fresh for real mountains. #flatlanders
