So is this just a noise problem, or eventually a function problem down the road.
Like posted before the whole system replaced with the same result? Maybe new updated parts will be available??

Only time will tell. Either way, it wasn’t designed that way to make noise. So far new parts haven’t changed. Same parts.

So I should call/email Toyota? Mine makes the sigh sound on acceleration from a stop or slowing to a stop.

If lots of them are making the noise but some absolutely do not then it's a issue of installation and or volume of insulation or 1234yf/oil

There has to be a solution besides letting the dealer kids fire the parts cannon at trucks hoping to somehow in the process cure the issue

My still new 2019 4 cyl 4x4 6 sp automatic only has 1500 miles on it and I started trying to put mileage on it with the one year anniversary coming up soon for the 12 month bumper to bumper warranty and then started noticing, when pulling up hills or in acceleration and with the AC on, there is that whirling or whining sound, faint, like someone posted the 12 second video and I could not tell if it was from the transmission or AC or belt or something else. I will point it out to the dealer when it goes for its 12 month service soon and they will probably say it is "normal" - however - reading what everyone described here on the forum, it sounds like this is not the transmission but something with the AC compressor and if it's not something major and expensive, like the transmission or drive-train components, it at least gives me a sigh of relief I can maybe live with it, unless or until Toyota might one day issue a recall. If the dealer says nothing wrong, "normal" or they say it's the AC and is a common complaint, I will probably call Toyota Corporate also - just to make a formal complaint - to add to the number of persons complaining to let them know that Tacoma owners are aware of this noise and are not fooled thinking it is "normal", other than it is "common" maybe, for current generation Tacomas. In other words, to let Corporate know, they aren't fooling anyone. Thanks again for all the great information from everyone who has posted because this is actually a relief to think it may be common to the AC and not something with transmission or drive-train.

2020 tacoma sr. Bought it with 3 miles on it. I have had this problem since around 100 miles. Only when ac is on. And gets louder the longer you drive it. Took it in they said it was the differential. They replaced the rear. Problem still there. Went to go have a service tech ride with me. And waited for an hour no one would. So now today I'm taking it to another toyota service center. The noise is driving me crazy

Be prepared for one of two things to happen

1 be told this is normal
2 have the whole truck torn apart and half assed put back together and have the problem still exist or end up with new issues from letting a kid take the whole dash out

They can have it back. Truck is less than 3mo old. My husband used to work for service with Toyota. If I don't get anywhere today I will be opening a case up. Its so loud that you can hear it over the radio with it turned all the way up. I'm a women so I have enough petty in me I will be that customer that doesn't go away. If that doesn't get me any where I'll trade it in. I have a lot of time on my hands right now because of corona. Lol. I'll update this afternoon as I have a apt at 5 to take it in. This is bullshit .

Hell yes go for it keep us informed and I personally would like to get the part numbers for the fix to check them against the original installed parts

Once a definite fix besides firing the parts cannon at the problem is established

I can fix the issue myself

Just picked up a new 2020 Tacoma 3.5l v6. I have the whine as well, just took it in the shop. When they call I'm going to mention the low compressor oil, anything else I should bring up?

In addition I would like to see a member who has the successful repair post up the work order and if it had toyota part numbers I would be most greatful

But I suspect the same exact part numbers were installed and no new updated compressor or assembly is available or the ones rolling off the assembly line would be trouble free and that's not the case

Ok. So after a 45 min drive rush hour traffic to get to the other dealership. (It did it the whole way there)Within 15 mins I had the shop foreman on a ride along. As soon as I pulled out and accelerated it did it. I noticed mine does it from a dead stop and continously accelerating to over 40 mph. Or on the highway running from 70 to 85 it comes and goes constantly. As soon as it did it I noticed the guy had turn. He heard it. It only did it once because I couldn't get up to speed because of traffic. He said he definitely heard it. And that it is not normal. And not a characteristics of the truck like the other dealership said. He tried me with wind noise and the 4 holes that can be taped but I shut him down . It only does it when the ac is on. So he wanted me to leave it. But they had no courtesy cars so he will call me when one is available. No later than Tuesday. I will keep you updated while going down this rabbit hole.

Please keep us updated! I have a case with Toyota pending. They said to keep checking every time I get an oil change to see if a fix has been provided.
