Well, there seems to be no 70+ year old thread, so we'll go for 80, 'cause that's gonna be me in two weeks. Anybody out there, or am I all alone here?

OK, I lied. It'll be two weeks as of tomorrow. Supposed to go to my oldest son's house 5 hours from here. Surprise! Hope our youngest doesn't show up. He's an Electrician, and got the flue on the job, so what's that say about social distancing?

I'll join you next year. I have a feeling that there will not be nearly as many posts as in the 60+ thread.

He works for Kaiser Hospitals in Northern California. There's always some construction going on, so job sites can change from time to time. Right now, he's working in Covid wards, but not while patients are present. I was concerned, and so was he, that despite the safety protocols for Covid, he and some others in the construction crew got the flue. I have had clean room experience in my work history, and know that even with that strict protocol, a typical workday can expose even the most careful worker to contamination, so it stands to reason that the lenient Covid protocols can do no more than merely reduce exposure, and still pose a substantial risk.

Trying to second guess my dermatologist. The spot on my temple I thought was melanoma "is not a concern", but I came away with a clown nose bandage and another big bandage on the top of my head. Third time for each. Ever get novacaine on the tip of your nose?

I have a credit card that has not been out of my wallet for over a year, however, a fraudulent new charge was made two days ago. Called BofA, and they said the physical card was used. NO WAY!
They claimed a scanner could not have been used, as it was the physical card chip that was used. My wallet is always in my hip pocket, with that particular card in last position next to the leather skin of my wallet. A scanner must surely have been used! Anyone know more about that possibility?
The store was Home Depot, and actually one that I do use, but never with that card, and I hadn't been in that store that day nor for 3 days prior. Anyone with info on how it could have happened?

OK, update to my last post. Embarrassed to say it, but my mistake. I did use that card, it was a weekend, it didn't post till Monday. Found it by looking back on the postings of the card I was supposed to use. Must be gettin' old!
I called back to the bank, cancelled the fraud claim, and put the new card on hold. Haven't really got a use for it, but you don't want to cancel cards 'cause that affects your credit rating.

What are the consequences of cancelling a card? I find a credit rating rather meaningless for me. I ask because I just got a card with significantly more benefits, including no annual fee, with another which has a (as I recall) $75 annual fee. Am getting ready to cancel that one.

The credit rating companies have their own criteria on what is good and bad, some of which makes no sense to consumers. Activity such as cancelling your own card apparently raises flags because the card company makes no money from you. But what do I know? I'm a landlord, and as such, I pull credit reports on applicants. When I see a credit card cancelled by a consumer, I consider that to be a positive, not a negative, as it demonstrates that person's value assigned to his credit rating.

An annual fee for a credit card is something I never had, and don't know why anyone would agree to one. I'd opine that the cost would outweigh any credit rating difference, and dump that one quick.

I no longer need a high rating either, as I have no debt tied to ratings and don't intend to, but it is nice to know my ratings are good. It would have been great if I had my present rating 50 years ago when I really needed it!

Well, here's modern times for you: I checked my security camera footage a couple days ago and found a sneak thief from the previous midnite. He stole two bikes from my neighbor and stashed his own bike under my porch. I was waiting for him to retrieve his bike the next morning, and body slammed him hard to the ground as he rode down my driveway. I tried to pin him down while a witness called 911, but he managed to get away from me. I was dumb to try it at my age, but there was no time to think, only time to act. Would you believe, there were a total of 4 men his age (fortyish) watching me struggle with this low life, and not one of them willing to step up to help detain him. When the cop got there, he told me he could only have given the perp a citation. Oh, for the good old days!

My Dad (86yrs old), were he to learn how to work a computer, could post in your thread. He's a die hard Tacoma fan. I built him a flatbed, but he won't let me touch repairing the rusted body. He says it gives it character, like him!

Wasn't quite finished in first photo, but that's the only one I have with him in the picture:
