Hi new to the forum, my name is David. I just purchased a 2019 TRD PRO with 16K Miles on her. Digging through posts but I'm a little overwhelmed looking for Direction on where to start modding the truck. My goal for the truck will be mainly over landing, hunting, camping. Want it to be capable but not looking to deck it out to the point I can rock crawl with it or anything. I'm also going to be driving back and forth from PA to NY twice a week so I'm trying to stay as light as possible and do anything I can to improve the mileage.

First thing I'm doing is taking off the towing cross bar, side steps, and sway bar. Would best place to improve mpg be to start be the OVTune tuner ? Currently have the factory Wrangler tires on it any suggestions for lighter tires ?

Also looking to do front bumper mod and winch, looking at the CBI what would be good compromise between weight and performance for front winch ?

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

For the MT, get rid of the accumulator (ADM):
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/mt-accumulator-delete-mod-adm-and-bs-thread.568303/

The dremel method is my current favorite and invisible.

Get on the the 2Lo Mod group buy list (2LM):
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-2wd-low-range-for-the-3rd-gen-tacoma.614743/

OVT typically nets an MPG gain along with a big hit of bottom end torque. It also improves functions like when the injectors cut back in when coasting.

The sway bar deleted (SBD) was a big help for me with the Sport suspension. It is said that the Pro gets the same SB, but stock, the suspension is going to feel very different.

Thanks for the info, the accumulator is a game changing suggestion. I don't hate the shifting but downshifting into 1rst currently feels like shit and or like it's damaging the transmission. Also the shift from 1rst to 2nd is way to short. What exactly does the 2Lo Mod accomplish, injector function in lower gears ? Can this work in conjunction with OVTune (do you have any thoughts on that people are praising it in some other threads ?

    Thanks for the info.

Then take the blue pill and get outta here.
You don't wanna find out how deep the rabbit hole is.

@tonered is right. Being a fellow MT, the ADM and OVT make a difference.
But if you compare his truck and my truck........the rabbit hole makes itself shown. I don't know what happened to mine sometimes.....

Looks good bro, and are capable outta the box.

    You're welcome!

Yes. Dropping smoothly into 1st gear while rolling is my main example of that the ADM can do. With the mod, clutch engagement is direct, a ton better, and feels like a normal MT.

The 2LM is just a harness that tricks the 4wd ECU into thinking the ADD on the front axle is locked in. It allows us to use low range on pavement for tight maneuvering, esp reversing.

OVT freaking rocks. It reveals what the engine can really do. It plays well on and off road and makes the Taco shine.

OP those are your answers above. ;)
do the OVT & ADM for power & mileage.
do your skids & sliders for protection.
do the 2LM and get the hell outta here! lol

Your truck looks fun lol ! Yeah I'm fully aware that you can dump the price of the truck into aftermarket. I did it with a BMW once and barely got what I paid for it when I sold it.
Does OV Tune work along side 2 Lo Mod ? Also any recommendation on light skids that are still durable and have good clearance ?

Lots of good info above. You asked about lighter tires.. those wranglers are about as light as they come at 38lbs a corner iirc.

For reference, a 265/75/16 wildpeak is 44lbs. A 255/85/16 st maxx is 59lbs a corner. You’ll come across these sizes when you go down the tire upgrade rabbit hole. I’d wear out what you have and do some research before ya commit.

Yes it does, and does well. Really pairs well when your backing a trailer.
You can get skids in 1/4" aluminum from several manufacturers, and SSO would be my recommendation on front winch mount.
It has the secondary wings you can add later on....

Thanks this saved me going down a long rabbit hole. I have like 50 tabs of the forum open at the moment, but thanks everyone for the info definitely giving me some direction on where to get started.
