I had this problem too at first, it was mainly because the seam sealant had gotten into the zippers. I believe I cleaned that out with Alcohol, then used some PTFE dry lube on the zippers and they improved 100%.

YKK is the shit and i am confused why they have cornered the market on zippers... their patent has to be up and the design isnt revolutionary but at the same time it is ha

and tbh for the price, AT should only be using YKK. Just the same way the vinyl should last longer than 3 years.

Are they not YKK? I thought they were. I was thinking that was all Nemo used.

(I’ve also been up since 1 AM so no promises on my brain function at the moment)

Just called AT and they said that the new inner support poles dont require the tension webbing because they are a 1 piece pole and a different shape. They made the change to the one piece poles about a month ago.

I have asked AT about Nemo's involvement and they said Nemo helped with initial design and has no part in manufacturing. Seems like AT paid Nemo to consult on the design on the AT Habitat and to get a jumpstart on moving into the tent market. The Nemo name on the tent is probably contractual and helps both brands as more people know Nemo in the outdoors community.

Weird. I assumed with the giant Nemo logo, they’d be doing the manufacturing.

Thats the assumption and the reason why i think it is a bit misleading. I think the logo is contractual and mutually beneficial but more so for AT because of the brand equity Nemo has in the outdoor community.

I dont think nemo is involved in the design with atlas or summit because their logo is not them.

Maybe I am wrong, but I switched my Summit order to an Atlas, and they needed to confirm it fit into the tent schedule. They had to call some one to make sure it was ok for the switch. I asked if they outsourced the tents they said yes. Maybe I am wrong or the person i knew was pulling my leg in some way.

yes, they outsource tents and stitching to vietnam. Aluminum panels are made by a shop in AZ. AT puts it all together in house.

Source: I was there 3 days ago and asked these questions.

haha I wanna see this sources credentials....kidding checks out to me.

Any chance you got the thinsulate liner? I am assuming they outsource that from the same place. Its something I can't commit to yet but :fingerscrossed: I may be able to afford it on pick up day. In my head it seemed like something they bulk order, but the more I think about it the more I don't think it works that way

I am not against and would prefer for people to do their own diligence rather than trusting a rando (even me) on the internet. Anyone can call AT and ask! haha

Never heard of the thinsulate liner... a 0* bag has worked for me. If the thinsulate liner is a liner that lines the interior of the habitat then it will be a waste because there is too much volume. Like i said, i have never heard of it and would prefer a quality 0* down bag over any tent liner.

I will research the thinsulate liner though.

I’d agree. Deer season on the Lake Superior shore, temps to below 0, my surplus sleep system had to be opened a bit to let heat out.

It is listed under options for both the Atlas ($950) and Summit ($900) - they have links to photos of both installed.

I wish they made something for the Habitat - I'll have to design something myself.
