There was no "Abuse" of "Mod powers", but being as you seem to be so emotionally attached to your posts, I'll un delete them. Furthermore, All I was doing was comparing the build of the filters. Nothing more. Everyone is free to draw their own conclusion about what filter to use. And Im fine with people doubting my oppinion. ;)

Ouch all this after the guy wished you a Happy Birthday! (ya I saw that). Anyway, what I think the TWO people who are complaining about this are failing to see is, he never said anything about testing flow rate, how it traps dirt and debris or anything like that. Nor did he claim he tested these filters in a lab or anything of the sort. He took it apart, which you can clearly see each filter is made differently. So atleast to most of us, the other filters besides the Toyota one looks like it has cheap insides. Which is common in big name brands. They try to save a buck where they can. PLus I don't think he ever really said one was better at filtration then the other. He just showed us the insides and to me they look cheap. End of story.

Jan- Your two original posts were not debating the topic "Oh great-Another one of these threads" is not a debate- I would expect someone who is demanding facts to bring a little more than that to the table. You were also told (but refuse to acknowledge) Chris removed your first two posts- and several other mods agreed that they were nothing but inflammatory. I would have removed them had Chris not.

You two are getting bashed because you aren't trying to have a discussion about the topic- You are trying to disparage the OP and and argue with everyone.

Like has been said a few times now. Feel free to use whatever filter you'd like. Feel free to bypass any thread that has Fram in the title or the OP. But don't try to pass off starting drama as "debate."

    THIS! ^^^^^

And FWIW, I brought the parts from the filters to a couple friends of mine yesterday, who happen to BE engineers, (One specializes in lubrication, and the other in engine mechanics), and they both laughed at the construction of the Fram filters, and said they are a "joke" of a filter. Once again, that was just their oppinion......But what do they know.

Weird, you wouldn't think they would look so different. Both being Toyota products. I didn't do my 1st oil change myself, the dealer did it. But I wonder if thats what mine looked like from the factory.

Inflammatory? You've gotta be kidding me? Ok.... you'd better add those exact words to the forum rules. Cuz they obviously mean something totallly different to me than they do to you.

But whatever....if that's what you consider being inflammatory, then you're making assumptions of what's intended. Assumptions aren't listed in the forum rules.

FRAM FILTERS TOTALLY SUCK! when compared to other brands they are crap. I use Wix Gold or Napa Gold (same thing). Amsoil filters are extremely quality too. All three of these brand names are made by the same contractor called Scientific Laboratories owned by Donaldson or Hastings or something like that. I also believe in Purolator. but I would never trust Fram.

Ha ha 9 pages of rants just because Chris4x4 decided to cut open Fram filter. Which in my book is extreme POS filter and I would not use it even if was given free, but if somebody for some unknown reason thinks those are good filters then keep using them but you are killing your engine and thats a fact.
I think bottom line is I don't see why are so many upset by what Chris posted.
Fram being extreme POS filter is nothing new and too many people had seen those filters fail (collapse, loose filter material, bypass opening and staying open after only short usage)
I bought FRAM only once for trying and decided to blew air to make sure its clean inside and filter material had fallen a part. Talking about POS filter, first and only filter that this ever happened. I blow air through every filter before installing none had done that.

But moderators discretion is. You are an adult- If you wanted refute Chris's opinions- You could have done that....but you didn't. You just stopped by real quick, post a snarky remark disparaging his thread, and try to color it as "constructive criticism". And then you got called on it. Posting a comment with roughly translates into "This is a stupid thread" is not trying to debate anything....and when you don't bother to say ANYTHING constructive until three posts in- What you write is what you write. I can't read your mind.

It's apparent from your first three posts that you had no intention of contributing anything constructive to the thread- and since then you've continued to rail on and on about what a useless thread this is- ignoring the fact that several other people have posted thanks/additional comments. It's okay to have your own opinions- but claiming you are being bashed because no one agrees with you is just silly.

bought two filters at the dealer yesterday for $5.00 each. My dealer sucks and wouldn't come down at all! They wanted to know if I wanted the Tundra filter so it would hold more oil, and I told them no, that I wanted the original Tacoma filter. I didn't think the Tundra filter would even work!

I have a friend who is a store manager at a parts store. Fram is popular and carried by all parts store because the profit on them is huge! they can charge the same amount for a xtended gaurd filter as a better quality filter and make a large profit because the store pays so little for them. so they are popular and the store carries everything in stock...

from a business prospective if you can buy 1500 filters for the same price as 600 mobil one filters you could stock a filter for everyone.

Just because they are popular, doesnt mean they are good. Thats a stupid comparo Like saying craftsman hand tools are as good as snap on or mac because they are popular and many people use them. nevermind they have plastic ratchet levers, gimmicy tools, etc.

I for one am happy to see this comparo and i care about my truck so i will no longer be using fram filters because in my opinion my truck deserves more than one of these cheaply made filter

I agree that the "not another one of these posts" is a dumb way to add any input and is just looking for trouble. If you dont have anything good to say, dont say it at all.

Chris, Thank you for the thread, I would like to contribute to the filter comparo in some way. If you send me a pm id like to paypal you $5 to contribute towards the purchase of a filter to add to the comparo as i find the info benefitial
