This thread was inspired by Cobra69 and Veterans day this week.

I'm a free man and I thank everyone that is or has served in the military.

Thanks also to civil servants like Cobra69 that have and continue to sacrifice for their families and communities.

Thanks to Tiger also. Not completely familiar with all our servants here on TW. You all can help me out.

    God bless you all!!!!:)

Thank you. It is a reserved thanks though as I for one have done (IMHO) little compared to others who are and have served.

I have the utmost admiration and respect for the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen that serve overseas away from family and friends.

Veterans day may be around the bend but regardless of the time of year, every time you see a Veteran stop and say a Thank You! It means everything to them.

Thank you to all who have served or are currently serving. Your sacrificies and those of your families are immeasurable. I think we need to thank the families of these fine men and women who have to endure the hardships of being separated from their loved ones, the fear for their safety, and the financial challenges their deployments can bring. I also thank the children of the men and women who sometimes grow up without having a mother or father in their home for months (or more) at a time. You have all sacrificed a great deal. Thank you seems like such a minimal thing to say, but it's all I've got.

If only the words "Thank you" were enough but it truly isn't. We can just never say those two words enough for the sacrifices you guys have put forth for our blessed country. Everything in which we now take for granted was earned threw blood of a soldier. And even to this day there are those fighting to protect our country that we love.

America is the best place on earth but it's only because of the people in it, and those that chose to protect it. Nobody likes war, but God bless our courages men,and woman that are called upon to engage it. Our hearts go out to each and everyone of you, be it young or old, Thank You..

    RIP Lucy.
    She's gone but not forgotten.
My father did 27 years, including some time in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. I did 6 years, awarded the Grenada campaign ribbon, I was fortunate to serve under the Reagan years when nobody would mess with America. My brother did 4 years. All Air Force.

We appreciate the thanks. Veterans Day also happens to be my birthday, I'm unemployed AGAIN so looks like this year I'll finally get my b-day off!

My admiration goes out to the cops and the fireman. Have a couple good buddies doing those jobs, although they tell me they don't worry about it too much it still can't be easy knowing any loser you just pulled over for a burnt out tail light might be the one that shoots you dead, or that house you're trying to save might be the one that collapses on you.

To my grandfather, who served 4 years during WW 2.
To my father, who served 2 years in Vietnam.
To my uncle, who served 1 year in Vietnam, incl. Tet and Khe Sanh.

To all the men and women who proudly serve or have served in our nations military, who sweat and bleed, who are sometimes called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice, who go day after day defending our rights, I say thank you.

I came to TW this morning thinking, "I want to start a Veterans Day thread to say thanks." I should have known this bunch would have already started such a thread.

Thank you doesn't begin to cover what the country owes our men and women in uniform and their families... but from me, a genuine

    Thank You!

A special token of appreciation goes out to every veteran worldwide who fought for freedom and for giving us the right to bitch and complain about insignificant things.

And THANK YOU for the freedom we take for granted today.

Firstly, thanks Hoosier for doing this thread for these guys. Secondly, all you people here expressing your hearts God Bless you! Last but not least I want to give MY thanks too to the world's bravest-were it not for YOU and YOU alone standing between us and the evils in this world, we wouldn't even have the FREEDOM to type these feelings because we would be under some dictatorship. Thanks to YOU and YOU alone, we can still enjoy the American culture and American STYLE that is still the envy of the world-and this Country you serve and protect can continue to be the beacon and refuge for the world. God Bless all military people!!
