All this talk about decent gas mileage..my 900mile average is 16
I've definitely heard there are issues with that I'd look at other brands out of just personal preference for how the vehicle looks. I still want to ride in a P100 just to feel the acceleration. I swap right now between the Tacoma and the Volvo R we keep around for when I need my manual and analog-feel fix.

:notsure: that was my experience when I had one for a while. I was really surprised about the dismal MPGs for a completely stock one. I did like the bigger interior of the 4runner, even though it was super outdated, but we are talking about different platforms now, rather than the motor.

Definitely. I don't understand constantly swapping cars like people do phones. I'd keep it until it's too expensive to repair or I drive it into the ground

That is exactly where we are at. For that reason, the Taco will be around for a while.

That is one thing I do miss, a proper no bs manual car. I think my mid life crisis mobile will be building an Exocet (Mazda miata on a tube frame chassis)

Hey, as long as I can safely mod the vehicle to make it look nicer and go faster, I’m fine. It’s just EVs aren’t very mod friendly

As it should. They'll last too so long as you treat them right. I personally tend to drive it like I stole it which is why my great destination times are balanced with horrible mpg.

Yes...go full crisis. That thing makes me want to cash mine in early. I love the R because it's just so fun to drive. Quick steering, great pedal feel, amazing clunk of the shift, turbo noises and more road noise then just about anything else out there. People who say the Tacoma is bad have no idea what real road noise is. Plus it's a wagon so it's "practical". It'll never be sold

Where the hell are you filling your gas tank in 60 seconds? You must have faster pumps than we do...

From some vids that I saw, just stripping weight looks like the best mod there. An other was stock P100D was dusting heavily modded fox bodies by a wide margin.

For what its worth the 3.5 has some giddy-up. I had this guy with a suburu fart can suv. He followed me for over 10 miles today right on my rear bumper...gave him all kinds of opportunity to pass, but no this moron kept gunning the fart can special till we came to my favorite hill. Lured him in till a low of 20 mph to see what he had. I dropped the right foot, and the truck pulled on him by over 100 yards till the top of the hill. Figured i was rid of this bozo now that i was headed on down the other side of the hill....Nope here comes fart can man in my mirror doing about 80 mph to catch up. Well i had to put up with him another 10 miles till i turned off into town.

Sounds likely 2001 tundra with the flow master exhaust system. That truck was no slouch off the bottom.

My last 4Runner was a 4.7. Torque monster for sure. But, according to the Georgia state trooper I met this year, my 2019 off-road premium has no problem hitting a hundred. Even without as much low-end grunt, the 4L dual vvt-i accelerates better on the highway. Towing might be a different situation though.

    this and that...
i had several brand new 1gr equipped vehicles (08 4runner, 08 xrunner, 13 trd offroad, 13 4runner) they all felt pretty good at the time. my fav hands down was the xr. my xrunner had full bolt ons (trd cai, doug thorley headers, urd ypipe, custom 3" fm super44 exhaust, coupe special trd s/s.) i loved that truck. looked good, felt good, had power, and it could corner. but no matter the bias of how i felt about it, the sport i have now feels quicker than the xr. people say the 3.5 is a dog or a slug. think it goes back to the personal build of the truck.
