    So when they say "in" the glass. I thought it was a separate layer. Apparently it's inter mixed in the glass?

    if thats factory tinted glass yes, replacement required to fix correctly. Sharpie might work for exterior looks, but inside looking out will look like you sharpied it every time you look back.

    Aftermarket tint film is applied to the interior of the windows. Factory glass is made with tint in the glass. If you scratched the back glass with the bed cover you scratched the actual glass. Not the tint... find a glass rubbing compound or polish and an orbital buffer, otherwise find a new glass from a parts yard and have in installed.

    this and that...
    tint is applied from the inside right? that looks outside. try running your finger across the scuffs. if you can feel indents, then sorry no amount of polishing is gonna take that puppy out. it could lessen the discoloration per se, but unfortunately the scratches will always remain visible unless replaced.
