Picked up a new 6x12 PJ utility trailer the other day. I think it's the perfect size. Big enough to actually be useful, small enough for the tacoma to pull easily. It will mainly be used to haul atvs and lawnmowers, but will also help when I move next year. Big upgrade over my outgoing 5x8 carry on TSC special.

PJ makes a great trailer. I bought one a few months ago that is a wee too big. I need something more about that size.

Just wanted to share this sweet brake controller I picked up for my Tacoma today. Plugs into the factory trailer port, connects through Bluetooth, super easy to set up and use. No need to hardwire in an ugly controller in the cab. Controlled through an app on your phone.

Not sure what your particular states rules are, but in California you can't handle your phone while driving. It's that law that no one enforces about hands free devices. But imagine you have an accident while fiddling with the phone to apply the brakes to the trailer, without applying the vehicle brakes.

I think all this was considered already.
You don’t need to have the app on to use it. You just set it up once. Then you can put your phone on whatever you want. If it loses connection that’s fine, it has the settings stored.

I keep mine on a MobArmor mount with GPS showing and either Pandora or Spotify playing.

So, how do you apply brakes to the trailer without applying the vehicle brakes. You know like when the trailer gets a bit squirrely and you want a bit of drag to straighten things out. Or has that practice been lost on the young?

But sure if I'd be considered young but I've got my P3 trailer brake controller mounted in the right side coin pocket. Always treat the breaks with the lever before every trip

I'm with the other person. I think the other poster (and myself) might be worried about having to adjust sensitivity on a hill or something on the fly. I have to adjust mine while driving but i can do it with a twist of the knob without having to unlock my phone then search for the app to change the brake controls. I can just keep my eyes on the road.

I think bluetooth trailer brake controller is a bad idea.
