Ok I got a new Taco this year. Truck looks great but missing a garage door button.
I still have my 20 year old button but it is as ugly as a stump fence.
I figured I would hide it behind the drivers side mirror and since it has two buttons I can open my door by adjusting mirror left and my wife's by adjusting mirror right.
Trouble is now I need something to turn on garage light and I have no more room behind the mirror. What can I do?

PS I can't use passenger side mirror cause I have my EasyPass behind that one.

That seems like a lot of work.

There is a mod that uses and CH4x4 or AOB momentary switch to trigger a garage door remote. Just a bit of easy soldering and hiding the remote:

Otherwise, check out the MyQ device:

Freaking stellar. It stopped my garage door switch mod mid tracks. And, the whole fam loves it.

    That is a nice solution.

Alternatively, you could just goto your local HD or Lowe’s and get a new receiver / transmitter setup. You might not even need the receiver but I would take the added security over an old receiver. Some of those transmitters are small and nice and could provide a nice solution.

I have my garage door opener in the center console. I reach in and press the button when I need to open/close the door. Unless you have the Homelink mirror, it seems like a lot of wasted time/materials re-creating the wheel. But, hey do what makes you happy.

I do not recommend programming your garage opener if you park outside. ever since some hooligans broke into my dad's van in front of my house and used the garage opener to get into our garage.

Does that basically turn your garage opener into a smart garage opener? Id like to be able to know if my garage door is open or closed if I'm away. Sometimes ill get so caught up in my day to day routine, ill wonder if I shut my garage door. 100% of the time I have, but it'll be nice not to ask a family member to check the house.

    Yes, it does.

It is internet enabled and had a position sensor that is attached to the door.

We use it for that purpose.

If interested . I bought a garage door button like the one shown above but the larger button one and I made a harness . It’s ready to solder into your factory garage door button . I can send a picture .looks pretty official . I ended up buying the gentex mirror .

Openers are old school bruh. I've been opening my garage with my smartphone for 3 years now. Much more secure too as you need to have your phone unlocked to open the door. Look on Amazon, you can convert old school openers to work with smart home stuff. Can even remotely open for someone else (neighbor/relative) if needed remotely.
