ah could it be rotted out? the transom on our old boat that my parents had rotted out and leaked and caused lots of issues

 

It’s modern science. Don’t think about it too hard.

 

Yeah it has a bilge pump and I even bought a big manual/hand bilge pump. Still didn't want to risk it.

 

I dont think so. Transom looks really good. After doing some reading it's most likely the shifter, steering or u joint bellows (rubber boots). I need to take it apart.

I have found a new problem for why it is not starting. It would appear the cylinder is completely filled with fuel

 

Hell yeah! Carbs are cheap.

I always charge more if they tried to fix it themselves. But it’s free! You got this.

It actually works if you stay on a plane! Buddy flipped the plug down instead of up and that fucker blew out at speed. Idled down until water started coming out of the ski slot. Hauled ass back to the boat launch and bummed a plug! The nose of that boat was pointing almost straight up when I realized wtf and floored that Johnson 140!

Dude once brought me a tranny in a box! Early 90’s Tercel transaxle. I’m like, this would have been cheaper if you let me do it. He says yeah, but I wanted to try. I respect that. So I build his tranny. Comes in a day later all pissed saying it won’t shift into any gear and it grinds. I calmly say you put the clutch disk in backwards. He fucking goes off!! Made a scene and stomped out. We all had a good laugh. Dude shows up two days later, tail tucked, and says I had to come say this to your face. I put the clutch disk in backwards!!
He earned my respect.

 

The coming back to say it took a lot of balls. I too, respect that.

 

This pos fired up once and now it looks like there are some bad gaskets in the carb...again. I fixed one, but since the fuel is just gushing into the cylinder every time you press the prime bulb, it'll be coming apart again. Ugh. Nothing can ever be easy
