80* when I went out with the dogs at 0630, yesterday end of shift Mirror in the truck read 112*.... DAMN!

Sigh.

I think my next step is to hook a pressure thingy to the hose bib and see what the pressure is. I think it is the water company's meter but I have to prove it.

Of course we are looking at a 3 day weekend so I probably can't talk to them until tuesday.

Are you on an actual "city" system or a private "water district" rural system? It makes a difference. We're on a rural water district system and it fluctuates at different times throughout the year. Especially at season changes. When the snowbirds get here there's a change in demand and then in spring/summer the pressure drops so they can do maintenance.

Edit* You should get a reading somewhere between 35 psi and 55-ish psi on your pressure gauge. We use liquid filled gauges because they're more accurate and last longer.

 

Any sign of drainage/ runoff from the meter box ??



Edit ...... do you have pop up (auto) lawn sprinklers ?? , maybe a main line has broken

Ok so here is what happened.

Hooked the pressure guage to the hose bib, 58psi. Shut the water off and the pressure slowly drops to 0 psi.

leak.

now I see a wet spot under the house by the water main, but not on the outside. That is good, i can see the water, bad that I have to crawl under the house.

Its by a rise from the main that feeds the hose. Creepy crawlers under there.

No and sprinklers? Are you kidding? They get 78 in of rain a year in the dry years.

Currently 107° and smoke filled skies , even the sunlight is being filtered an eerie orange color . Definitely can see a smoke plume from the southeast but the only active fire is the Eldorado fire in Yucaipa on the south side of the mountains
