    so heres the deal

i live with my folks (bad economy, lay off, etc)

so tonight its Saturday so i decide to head for the bars (10 blocks)

get about halfway there and notice a bunch of people taking a group pic on a porch, being the nice guy that i am, offer to take the pic so everyone can be in it .... that goes off fine

i ask what the occasion is, (not a lot of parties around here just for the sake of partying) turns out the party is for a marine who just got back from duty in japan. I thank him for his service to our country, and he invites me up to the porch. I already have my road beer (a keystone light) ... eventually this other guy offers me another beer (sierra nevada)

so i say sure, and go to follow him into the house to get it, and hes like nah ill bring it out, im like cool ... i understand, im the random guy who offered to take the pic from the street, these guys dont know me, whatever.

so i end up being there for 2 1/2 more hours, hit it off with pretty much everyone there, turns out i know one guys cousin from high school, whatever, eventually am in the house, talk to the girl whos house it is and is throwing the party for the marine, shes good, turned out i helped chase her dog back to the house who got out a week or so ago (dog laid down on the porch and i figured it was his place) notice a shirt on another guy for a fairly popular mountain biking trail in the sierra nevada mtns (3 hrs east), chop it up for a while about mtn biking .... its all good.

so eventually shots are taken in the kitchen, and the same guy who offered me the beer earlier, says maybe you should take off .. i say yeah parties kinda winding down, and hes like yeah man, get lost

so i dont cop and attitude or anything, but say i want to say goodbye to the marine (whos in the bathroom at this point) ... so he comes out and i say hey, party is kinda winding down, figured id cut loose, like a gentlemen he offers to walk me out, so we cruise out, i see the mountain bike guy, say goodbye to him

so the marine asks why im cutting loose, so i say the guy with the black hair and the beard with a little gray on the edges suggested i head out, and he says he doesnt know who that is, guy doesnt live there, but he thanks me again for taking the picture of everyone (says im a good man for doing that) and hanging out and i head out, decide to head home cause the bars here suck anyway

anyhow ... just needed to vent ... i can understand if its the guys house whos tripping, but seriously?

Any idea if the girl you were talking to was this marine's gf, sister or someone close that this other guy thought you were getting to close? That's the only thing I can think of. Sucks, but glad you left there without a problem.

Drop a sixer of good stuff on the porch soon with a note in it thanking them for the warm welcome and entertainment. Chick will either get it and appreciate you as a stand-up guy, or dude will drink it and trash the note to which you can ask her how the beer was a week or so later which will bust him out for being a douche bag.

Either way you will be square with the karma police.

I met a neighbor recently and we got to talking and he mentioned that he had a brother who is into tall mountain climbing which I used to be into allot when I was younger. Asked where the guy had been and he started naming off summits and years and I realized that I had been on a couple of mountains the same time his brother had been. Turns out I had actually climbed with his brother on the same team a couple of times. It's kinda funny how small the world is when you actually talk to people.
