That’s exactly what I was gonna do but with some cream cheese inside too. I went out to Ponder to my girlfriends land since she has a nice field (8 acres of open field surrounded by a treeline). Only got 13 between my girlfriends dad and I, didn’t see too many. Was using my dads old Remington 870

Yeah, there were people on other plots of land all around us hunting and they seemed to have much better luck than us. My girlfriends dad has also been hunting dove out there since opening day.

You do any actual overland stuff? Not poking fun, just curious. I have a few connections in Texas for overland trips.

 

I’m trying to get into it. Just waiting on my RTT but I’ve been using my ground tent for the past year. I have a bunch of trips planned

 

Ground tent is plenty. Overland in Texas is driving to cool spots, camping in a set location, unless you have permission from a ranch owner.

 

I don’t plan on too much Texas camping in the fall/winter. I’ll go to New Mexico, Colorado, Arkansas, Wyoming eventually, etc.

In the summer I’ll really be using the tent for camping at state parks and go swimming and whatnot

 

Use national forests as a base location and plan for camp by 1700 and you can get some legit sight-seeing in.

I did a week trip to Lincoln NF in New Mexico that was awesome.
