Water was building up around the well pipe for the past week. Adapter is most likely leaking. Took about 3 hours to get 4’ deep and 2’ wide. 85 degrees and 80% humidity did not make this fun.

Crown molding definitely takes some time/experience. Painted vs stained crown are also different beasts...

Have a copper pipe in my basement that has started giving a loud rattle/hum when a high water demand gets turned on (shower, toilet). Thankfully super accessible as its right overhead in my basement storage area. Noticed it last week when the downstairs shower came on, then its spread to when the upstairs toilet is flushed or the kitchen sink is on as of this morning.

Water pressure in the house is 65 as measured by the home inspector last June when I bought it. I think its just a loose pipe as the humming comes from a stretch that's unsecured and vibrates against one of the floor joists pretty significantly.

I'm gonna throw a few pipe straps on in the area, but if that doesn't work, what are some other suggestions from those in the know?

Sometimes my pressure regulator makes noise - which is amplifed by the wood floor joists it's attached to. It is a whistling/whining high-ish pitched noise. To quiet it down, I adjust it - turn it about a 1/2 turn in one direction, then back 1/2 turn. Sometimes I go the other way as well. That quites the regulator for a while.

Not sure if you have the same issue, but it's free and easy to tweak the regulator. Maybe it will help.

Others can chime in but 65PSI is a little high. 40-60 is recommended and 50 is optimal. I run my house at 55PSI. Hopefully the strap will quiet it down.

Oddly enough, it doesnt rattle any more. IDK whats going on. I think the expansion chambers just got filled, and corrected itself when i shut the water off.

Is there a way I can switch a 120/240v device off the hvac? I have a regular plugin dehumidifier in the basement I want to switch off when the ac is off. If I open windows, I turn off the ac but forget about the dehumidifier.

I know I can buy a dehumidifier that is built into the hvac but I already have one that sort of works.

I was hoping I could tap off the thermostat to switch a relay. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way to say the system is off as opposed to not running. Any ideas?

I wouldn’t recommend cycling a dehumidifier on & off like that. They like to stay running & most with some auto controls will vary load rather than shut down. Way easier on the compressor but I see what you’re after.

So I’ve been fighting ants in the kitchen for the last 6 weeks. I had sprayed and treated the yard multiple times but they kept coming back. I finally tried this stuff and in 2 days they were gone! Ant free for the last 5 days, now I’m killing the ones outside with it.

Terro works fantastic with any ant, that stuff is amazing. They even have this stuff for spiders and it works just as good.
