Was driving down the road in my 2017 TRDOF auto, stopped at a stop light then when I went to take off the engine just revved, like it was in neutral. Reverse works but it's like it doesn't have drive. Tried putting it in 4wd lo/high, lock diff, track control, manual shift, nothing. There's no difference between drive and neutral.
    Any ideas????

Someone else had this problem and it was low transmission fluid. There is a 1800 Toyota Service number you can call it's in the manual in your glove box.

So low tranny fluid and drive won't work? I had them check my tranny fluid a few years back when I bought it because of the issues some had with low fluid. I have no dashlights or warnings, just drive won't work. Had to get towed home.

Toyota probably forgot some of your transmission fluid.

Edit: when they “check” at the dealer, the plug it into a compooter. They don’t actually check like they should.

Someone else had a similar problem recently, makes me think I need to do the same. I've a 1000 mile road trip coming up and getting stuck on the side of the road near Quartzite would be just great.

No I made them check the manual way. Took three hours because the had to let the truck cool down, then start it and have it get up to the proper temp.

Ohh decent, good on you and the dealer. In that case this is pretty odd. Does the truck have any malfunction lights on? Or any substantial modifications? Check under the hood and for signs of rodents, sadly.

No mods at all, completely stock. No warning lights at all. Reverse works just fine.

If the tranny fluid was low, would I a warning light come on?

Unlikely that the transmission decided out of the blue to do this one day because it was low from the factory. I'm guessing the transmission failed or the range switch has shit the bed

Haven’t heard of this happening yet with the symptoms you describe. Does the truck indicate it’s in the drive position on the little screen even? If it does it may be a component is stuck in the trans.. but seriously do a good check for rodent damage. Could be a chewed wire finally broke. Rodents like these trucks it seems

Any chance this could be a fuse or relay?
