1st gen, 33" tires, 3 inch lifts. Need measurements PLEASE.

Need measurements from the ground to the front fender (centered thru the axle)

and from the center cap to the fender.

3 inch lifts and 33" tires only please. 1st gens.

I am having some rubbing issues when I hard left into my driveway. Tire is hitting the rear of the front fender.

I am running OME 881's with a .5 spacer and stock tokico shocks.

Measurements are:

24" from the center of the center cap to the fender.

39 1/4 from the ground to the fender strait lined thru the center cap.

I could try to get some for you tomorrow but my tires are ~33.3" tall.

 

Appreciate it. Mine are actually metric 285/75/16 so I'm not sure what the exact height is. If you measure from the center of the center cap it shouldn't matter whether you have 28's or 44's, as long as you just have a 3inch lift.
I'm thinking i'm lacking an inch or so and thats why it's rubbing so bad. I just want to make sure there are others that have 24inches or better from the center of the axle up to the fender so I can decide on 5100's without any alignment problems. Preferably prerunners.

hmm, well I have a v6 4x4 and no .5" spacer so it might not be very accurate. Just FYI I ended up with about 2" of lift.

Yeah i had the same problem your having. I was rubbing bad if i hit a bump wile turning and I have 3 1/4" in the front I was 38 1/4 from the ground with the stock tires i haven't checked with the 33's. i did however take of my rubbing issues


I went wheelin two weeks ago and didn't rub once. I'm buying Bushwacker Cut Outs soon so i cut the fenders to spec to install the flares. You can't even tell there cut until you really look.

 

Alright, here is what I came up with.

Center of wheel to fender: 23.5"
Ground to fender through center of wheel: 38.5"

Tires (255/85/16 cooper discoverer) with 31 PSI measure out to 32" from ground to top of tread..

 

Yeah but your tires are 1.5" wider than the OP so your going to rub more.

FYI I only rub on the rear of the rear fender well, on the frame at full lock, and on the inner fender a tiny bit if I really bottom it out hard.

 

Wow. You hacked that pretty good!! I dont have fender flares on mine anymore. I like the look with them off. So I take it your not rubbing at all anymore? Also are you rubbing the frame at full lock left forward and left reverse? It doesnt do it at all full right forward or reverse. Just full left in both directions.

I think some spacers will alleviate the rub I have on the frame but I really dont want to have my tires stick out any further since I am not running fender flares anymore.
As far as the rear of my front fender hitting the tire on curbs...I'm not sure what I can do about this. I dont want to cut my fender any. Wondering if some billies will give me an extra inch?

 

Did you pound and grind the pinchweld a little? I had to do that.

According to this thread at ttora the prerunners should have just a tad more lift.
I need an extra 1-2 inches and just not quite sure how to get it. Really dont want to body lift it. If they made bushwackers for the DC, I would go that route.

 

Yea. The guys at the tire shop were kind enough to do that when I had the tires put on. Removed my mudflaps, trimmed the plastic and mammered the pinch weld.

 

What is the backspacing and offset of your wheels, that can affect the rubbing as well.

 

I want to say 4.5 for backspacing. Not sure of the offset. However if they are 16x8's wouldn't the offset be like -.5?

And that would only play a part in the tire rubbing the frame and not have bearing on the tire hitting the rear of the front fender, correct?

 

Im not sure, another thing that can affect rubbing right there is how the alignment was set up. I don't really know much about how all that works though.

 

I'm going to go get the truck washed. I'll measure the backspacing on my spare when I get back. Been down the last 4 days with strep or some shit and I havn,t felt like doing much of anything.
