I found a 2015 TRD Sport dual cab with 6 spd MT w/44k miles at Carmax listed for $32k and could be out the door for ~$34,400. More than I'd like, but it is only off the KBB "fair price" by about $300 and is similarly priced to other trucks in my area.

This seems like a lot for a 5-6 year old truck, but the low mileage makes it tempting. Also there are a grand total of 12 dual cab MT trucks model year 2013 or newer listed for under $33k within 200 miles of me (per cargurus) and only 9 of those have under 75k miles, which makes for slim pickings. Even worse is our credit union gave us a great rate... as long as the truck is purchased in our (tiny) state - if we buy out of state they increase the rate by 1% (equates to about $750 in additional interest of the life of the loan).

I also found a 2017 TRD Sport, 6spd MT w/47k miles listed for $33k (basically on the nose for the KBB "fair price") at another dealership (in state) and could be OTD for $36,000. In theory this price could be negotiated down, but I suck at negotiating and probably wouldn't get much.

There's a CPO 2017 TRD Sport 6spd MT w/33k miles listed for $33k in the state next door. This is definitely tempting and it possibly a better deal even with the additional interest costs (I'd also have to have it state inspected, but hopefully since it's certified it'll pass without issue).

Are any of these good deals? I'm the most interested in the 2015 because I think it looks the best and I like what I've read about the 4.0L having more power lower in the RPMs than the new 3.5L (even though the 3.5 has more overall power).

Brand new in Dec 2014 I bought a 2015 v6 4x4 AC SR5 for 30k. Before taxes. That’s as low as I could get it.

I think that truck is priced too high. But !! since it’s a 4.0 and they don’t make them anymore, someone will eventually buy it. It’s all about how bad you want it, I guess.

I bought a brand new sr5 spruce mica long bed in 2013 for 27.5 before taxes. Sold it for 25.5 with 71k on it when I bought my 2018 pro for 40.5k

Honestly 2nd gen guys might hate but my 3rd gen is leaps and bound betters then my 2nd. Can’t say the 2nd gen was bad cause it wasn’t but my 3rd gen is just better interior and honestly engine wise. Pulls the boats and trailers just as good if not better but spins more rpm, for sure feels quicker.

For those prices I would be looking at new trucks imo.

Mine was a little under $28K - in-law works at the San Antonio plant where they are built - employee discount. I did not read the whole post, just the first truck mentioned. $34K out the door in my opinion is too high for a 5 yr. old truck.
I'll bet that one is at a dealership

If you're looking at $30K+ trucks, I hope you're buying the house you live in.

Got my '15 TRD off road in May from a Toyota dealer in Ohio. $26K before paying my Iowa state taxes. Had 25,000 miles. It is certified pre owned.

That was my first thought, and I shopped a little on the new market and got a couple of quotes thru the Costco program just as feelers. Best deal I could get on that was $36,750 (includes freight and the Toyota $1,000 cash back). With TTF it'd be somewhere around $39,750ish. That extra $5,500 is a little out of my price range right now.

I paid 25,500 for my 15 this past December. V6 Manual, TRD Off Road access cab with 24,000 miles. It had a lot of surface rust on the frame that I had to address and a vibration in the steering wheel. I think I put about $6-700 into it including buying a set of stock wheels ($300) and going through the front end replacing bushings. Repainted the frame. Had a lot of time into that, but it hardly cost anything. Now I’ve got a very nice ‘15 for less than 30K

Now is not the time to be negotiating on a popular vehicle from a dealer. They are (by default, not their action) in control on the supply side of things.

You might get a good private buy from someone in over their head. Sometimes CU contacts can help you with sniffing those out.

And keep in mind that when gas gets back to the $4 range lots of these 'I always wanted a truck' soccer dads won't like them so much anymore. So there will be good used deals to have then too.

Now is the time, if one has the means and space, to cherry pick a couple of nicely appointed gas sippers. Camry, Accord, etc. Even RAVs & CRVs. Good price, well detailed, modest miles and enjoy them for a couple of years.

When the worm turns, you'll be able to sell for a price that gives you the lowest TCO you'll ever have on a vehicle that your mom didn't gift you.

You'd be surprised out here in California. These things don't last but days on the market out here. The demand is so high that most dealers out here don't have any in stock. So they know someone will pay the price. Even when I bought my 2011 back a few years out here, they marked it up 3k. But it was what I was looking for so I had to pony up, or else 3 other guys were in line. It's a big demand out here, and dealers refuse to negotiate, not sure other parts. But yeah it's laughable.

I thought the mark ups on the Pro was crazy before, but heard of people paying them and accepted that as the norm for that region. I can't believe that is still the case for the new normal.

Oh yeah it's still the norm and still going strong lol. You'd think there wasn't any kind of economic downturn or anything happening, Haha. I did see a Super white 2019 pro at another dealership going for 48k used.

You’d be surprised how crazy the adm’s are here in SoCal. Not only Tacoma and tundras TRD pros but also the Civic Type R.
