the alternator on this car puts out a whole 35 amps peak! lol

 

I like the idea of a modern Mercedes engine in it but putting a Toyota/Lexeus drivetrain in it would make it cheaper and easier to maintain. And be unique and plain awesome.

Yeah, cause that's their least crappy line of engines. After the 1950s

 

Mercedessource.com has a good little points eliminator kit

Replaces points with a trigger wheel and sensor

 

the 2.0 gasser isnt a fast engine, but it is the engine that was used in unimogs at one point. it is indeed reliable. for the time

 

I've just never been much of a diesel fan.

The old diesel engines are pretty bulletproof and require no electronics, pretty good combo for a classic vehicle with limited support and parts availability in the US I think.

 

yea i was surprised that my little merc has the gasser unimog engine. thanks to that, alot of parts are still available
