True driving on state land is frowned upon. Though rumor has it a gen 1 Tacoma may be able to squeeze by some gaits in the Paul Smiths area. I was thinking more of access roads to lakes or trailheads. Maybe in the North Elba area off from Rte 73. Another may be Taylor pond area in Blackbrook. Keene Valley has some great views on Hurricane Mt Rd. Anyway my jeep buddy pays a small fee to access some private land. I will be there tomorrow and I can ask around.

Nice I used to go jumping at split rock back in the day. Also ran out of gas on my way home from Albany in the middle of the night from a phish show and had to wait at Betty Beavers till they opened. Good times.

As the resident dirty jersian, let me say the Pine Barrens are a great place to explore. Very unique ecosystem, largest coastal pine forest left I believe.
Helps to have a guide as the roads are a web. From what I have seen there are a lot of “side” areas off the main roads. Technically speaking there is no “off roading”... that being said there are a ton of areas and serious dirt to be had. Definitely believe people when they say to avoid the puddles, or approach delicately, some loook tame but will swallow up anything that’s not sitting on 40s.
I’d be game to romp around the pines. Be warned, you will definitely get some pin stripes.

I wouldn't be opposed to a mettowee trip. I thought since we had some flatlanders with us I'd show them some hights.

I'm approximately 230 miles from the Pine barrens

So what are we all thinking? I feel the discussion and planning has kind of stagnated. Do we want to vote on something? Mettowee? More dirt roads? The Pine Barrens might be too far for most of you all

I'm trying to put together some roads and trails in the ADK. We have to make sure that if they dead end there is ample room to get 15 ish trucks turned around. Hopefully having spots that are much more challenging.

I'd be down for the pine Barrens but again that's a drive and a half for a lot of the folks here. Meets dont necessarily have to be the group at full strength im thinking, maybe smaller runs of more local people hitting local spots (i know @Checkers10160 was asking about people to come with him to check out a spot not to long ago) and then the big meet up when we can get a route planned?

I am waiting for a friend to send me a link to an off road club. Though the trails close in a couple weeks due to hunting season. From what i have heard its legit with trail maps and a mud pit. Its $60 per season for the key. I will text him again.

Is definitely be down for smaller meets! @JDUB-Fabrication is close by, and he and his girlfriend are close to our age I think. Plus I don't think you're that far! Maybe we do a smaller Pine Barrens meet.

A CT Taco (@Ranger357) and I are going to Meshomasic state forest in CT and others are welcome! Not a huge thing and I know it's far from most people though

Yeah, I should have my truck back tomorrow barring any issues @pmstoy10

Oh shit. I didn’t notice that. That’s not a good sign. If you want to try and hit some local trails I will be around those parts most weekends til end of November

I just sent an email to NORA since they were in charge of safety for the event last year. I'll let you know what's going on with that.

For sure, as soon as I get my truck. The frame is being replaced. Hopefully back tomorrow :fingerscrossed:
