Could be. I know this is one of the first Cal4 events that wasn't cancelled, I bet there are more than a few people there.

Also, $50 bucks OBO. Listed in CL thread for $75. Just need em gone. Take off spindles with prerunner hubs. Would make a good spare set or a set to gusset and swap over.

I kinda want them spindles. Should be the same as a 4x4 and as you said, good for a gusseted set (without the downtime, allowing me to R&R).

Was camping in Shaver this Friday/Saturday. Decided to pack it up and leave at 0900. By 2:00 it was mandatory for everyone to leave the area.

    Question for the group.

I don't even pretend to know the answer.

My son is getting ready to go on a trip in his RV. Wants to tow his 2nd gen Auto trans, 4wd. Is there a best way to do that? All kinds of dumb information on the internet, don't know which is good advice.

    Flat tow?
    Tow dolly?

What proceedure needs to be followed to avoid fucking shit up?

I have absolutely no experience (nor desire to have experience) with RVs or towing vehicles behind them.

Tow dolly. Can't flat tow a 2nd Gen. Lots of threads on it for the reason

So I would assume tow dolly, with the truck backed up on to the dolly?

Why not flat tow with driveshaft removed?

My assumption would be that that’s okay. But maybe make sure the bolt holes are realigned when throwing the driveshaft back on

Any time the driveline is removed, it's a good idea to mark the flanges to reinstall in the same orientation.

I'm thinking he could just disconnect the rear driveline at the diff flange and secure it up to the frame while towing.

But the front axles are still spinning, if it's being flat towed. As long as it's not in 4wd the front drive shaft is not spinning (correct? or no??)

THESE are but a few of the reasons I have no desire to have any experience with an RV, or towing with an RV.

The oil pump to the tranny is powered by the engine. So while moving the tranny would never receive oil and potentially burn up. I suppose you could disconnect the driveshaft if really considering flat tow. But with an electric 4wd system, don't know if I would trust if the system is completely off.

Pull both shafts if your gonna flat tow it. No way can the trans or t-case spin then.
