So last week I had a new set of Nitto RGs in 265/75R16s put on. First time driving, started getting horrible vibrations over 50 MPH. Took back to tire shop and rebalanced. Worked good for a day. The next day above 50 MPH, horrible vibrations. I was told one tire had a hump, so I we ordered a replacement. I went in today to replace the tire they suspect was out of round, followed by a RF balance. Still have the bad vibrations. So the question is, do I have them replace the other 3 for a full set of “new” tires or give up on the Nittos and go with something else? Thoughts? How odd is it for a truck to not work with a specific tire?

I am quite disappointed that my Taco and the Nittos are not working out and I don’t want the KO2s. Very frustrating.

Edited so people know I am not actually blaming the truck.

Its not the trucks fault. Sounds like a batch of shitty tires. If you have your heart set on the ridge graps I would have them try another set before giving up on them.

Nitto is owned by Toyo, but for the best quality all terrain, stick with Toyo and the AT2/3. They balance the best, and drive the best. Haven't seen a bad batch yet.

I know it is not the truck’s fault, the thread title was supposed to be a joke/funny.

Same thing happened with me. Nitto warrantied my first set but won't warrant my second (same issue with both sets). I JUST went through all of this. I'm done with Nitto. I'd try a different tire.

That’s what I am afraid of, is getting a second bad batch and being stuck with them. Having a hard time deciding what to get instead.

    secret stuff.
Look into Cooper AT3 line, especially the LT and XLT versions of you wheel harder. Check out Toyo AT3, and Yokohama X-AT. I had issues with Falken Wildpeaks not balancing and I went Cooper AT3, but the Falkens sure have their fan boys. I loved how they looked, but couldn't get them to stop jiggling that steering wheel.

I think right now I am settled on the Toyo AT3s. They seem to have all the right ratings. Just want to get this new truck settled with new tires—that aren’t vibrating the whole truck over 50 MPH

Definitely not the trucks fault, not even sure how you came to that conclusion, unless joking, but I've ran Nitto RGs on my 17 and 19, 285 and 265, no issues besides a hit to MPG as expected. I'd source a new set or new tire installer if you really love the nittos (I did). Now KO2 bro's, garbage tires in my experience.

Like I said to someone else, I know it is not the trucks fault, just put a stupid, catchy title. It is obviously tires as there was no problem with the truck until I swapped the tires. Guess I need to spell it out better.
As another poster above said, he has gone through 2 sets of tires with the same issue an not is SOL. Not interested in being stuck with bad tires, so I am thinking of ditching the Nitto fo the Toyo...and it sucks, because I really like the looks and specs on the RGs but I am not going to deal with bad vibration at speeds over 50 MPH.

Lots of us have and currently run them no issues. They have by far been my favorite tire performance and look wise. Don’t get me started on wildpeaks, ko2 bros or open countrys (some of my least favorite).

I bought a set and having the same exact problem. I’ve taken them back twice already and they just keep wanting to rebalance them. At 50 mph they’re garbage.

I just have a bad taste in my mouth with the Nittos and am afraid I will end up like what Rollo67 went through.

That was what I was dealing with, they wanted to rebalance them again. I told them if they need to be rebalanced 2x/week, there is a problem with the tire. They are recommending I try a different tire or even back to OEM size, 265/70R16.

I feel ya, that's how I was with my 2nd set of KO2 bros, kept having balancing and vibration issues, even were road force balanced and the the tech did the special lining up with chalk, etc. took like 4 hours and still issues, ontop of winter performance and handling, I'll never buy them again. But anyways, I'd try a different tire then, I know discount tire will do exchanges, good luck, but its not the size or the truck if they try to feed you that nonsense.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing it is the truck or tire size...there are plenty of people just on here running 265/75R16s with NO issues. I told the dude I didn’t buy it. He was actually trying to convince me to swap them for KO2s....SMDH.

Are the RGs, the SL rated too? I would expect shitty handling on stock setup with E rated, but not an SL.
