What did you use to mount the tablet and other gear? Any idea on the range your getting with the Midland? I like your snorkel.

Perfect. Been looking for a unit like that, that way i dont need to worry about it getting ripped off as much as the full size antennas

I figured since mine is all apart, I should look into a replacement. But when mine goes eventually, Ill throw an OEM rack. Cant fork that out right meow with all the other parts to buy.

Didn't even know this was happening.....

The Midland and mics are mounted on . Mics are on Ram mounts w/ expedition Essentials mic bracket. The Midland radio is mounted w/ the supplied bracket and some PTFE spacers. Uniden CB is mounted in the cubby above the Qi charger w/ spacers and fender washers. The iPad is mounted to the pass seat bolt with Ram Mount Vehicle Mount.

As far as range, I still need to give it a proper test. But definitely better than anything I've used in the past. After install just messed around quick... Handed the wife the handheld, she was bathing our son so was in washroom indoors. I went for a quick ride aprox 6km's before turning back. There were plenty of apartment, condo and commercial buildings between us. Little to no static and sound/clarity was mint. This was the mobile unit to a handheld, can only imagine how good it would be mobile to mobile!

I like that RAM vehicle mount. That wasn't something I was aware of for the tablet. How do you have all that stuff powered? The little USB adapter I have seems to struggle powering a lot of equipment.

The mount is good. The "tower" is a aluminum rod which you bend to conform how you like. There are some who say it vibrates and comes loose over time being the Al compresses in the clamps. Others seems to not have an issue. Once Im happy with the placement, I will remove and bend a steel rod to the same shape to avoid any problems. However, so far seems fine.

Power... iPad for now is using the factory USB. I will likely, eventually conceal and power this independently. Radios are powered from fuse panel through a ignition circuit to only have power when vehicle is on to avoid forgetting and having a power drain and grounded to chassis. Both radios have memory setting to resume to same state once power is supplied ie; start truck and radios turn on or stay off depending how you left them last time you turned the vehicle off.

Well, I have heard of aftermarket racks leaking prematurely. Just thinking that the OEM rack is only a couple hundred more than a Napa new one, and mine had lasted over 200k (100k in 33’s and about 30kish on 35’s). See how it goes.
