112 degrees today. Some idiot tells me, yeh but it’s a dry heat. I don’t care what kind of heat it is 112 is hot!!! For those that work have a nice 3 day weekend. For those that don’t it’s another Saturday (every day is Saturday)of Labor Day weekend, honor the great American workers, fly the flag and give thanks to those paying into our social security. Stay cool and be safe all.

Enjoy your Labor Day today. We are having my cousin and her husband over today for an early dinner. My son is going to cook the burgers so I plan to sit back and enjoy the visit. Almost finished the back yard makeover. One more corner to do later on this week.

Happy Labor Day everyone! In my mind this year, more than ever, we need to take a moment to think about, and say thanks to, the American labor force. We all have been through a lot with this crazy 'rona changing everything. One group that really stands out to me are the folks who continued working, especially during those early days back in March when stuff was closing down, people were locking themselves in at home, and yet food stores and gas stations and other essential businesses stayed open and people who worked there kept going to work. Nobody had any idea how much risk they were facing. And let's be honest -- a very large number of those folks don't exactly get paid in the millions. But they kept working. They strapped on masks and they showed up day after day. Cashiers, stock clerks, packing plant workers, laborers of all kinds in too many roles to list. They were, and are, true heroes. They deserve our respect, admiration, and thanks on this Labor Day 2020.

Early on in the pandemic I was standing in a line, social distancing with another guy. We were chatting about what we thought would happen. He asked if I thought society would break down, that we would enter a lawless 'wild west' kind of situation. We were at a shopping center and there was a food store across the parking lot from us. I pointed to the food store and said 'as long as that place stays open and the shelves aren't empty, I think we'll be okay.' Well, the store stayed open and the shelves (mostly!) stayed stocked, in spite of the pandemic. In my opinion a huge amount of the reason we are managing so well is because of American laborers who kept on going to work all around the country. From the bottom of my heart, thanks to everyone of you!

A little something every chance we get.
Good Morning and Happy Labor Day to all. Thanks for your labor (and mine) in the past, as well as your Service! Congrats Mike on what looks like a very successful weekend at the track! Yard and BBQ looks great Tom, and the corn roast looked like fun Ken.

Grilled yesterday, today going to try to smoke a tiny brisket on the Weber. Empty out the little greenhouse, and be poolside shortly. It's a brisk 82* now, so need to let it warm up a little. Was in the water yesterday after putz chores, and it was "refreshing", but easy to stay in. Once this front comes tomorrow, I will bet today is the last time anyone is in for the year!

    Enjoy your day everyone!

Good morning all, thankful Labor day to all. Grilling buffalo steaks today and working on the property before the change - up to 10-15 inches expected tonight and tomorrow, 80 degrees here (hot for us) then 19 over night with snow.

The wife dressed Agnes in a deer costume - she thinks she will get cold tomorrow - I think she will go nuts like our other dogs with her first encounter with snow.

Have a great day everyone - be safe, we are not out of this yet.

    How gorgeous she is!!

We want to come visit your part of the country some time...but not when there's snow. We've driven through a few times on our way to the west or the east coast during moves while in the Army. Gorgeous...but that's way too much snow.

Col, you are always welcome to come and visit, bring the whole family. It can snow in any month, the beauty is this will not last but a day due to the warm ground and warm temps later in the week. I just have to weatherize a little today for the freeze - the upside the flies and moths will be gone :bananadance:

112 yesterday but were in a cooling trend today. Down to 110 today. I may breakout the long johns and wool socks.
Mike, your pup gets more cute every day. As I said before I’m a lab guy but I think golden puppy’s are the sweetest most adorable pups on the planet. She looks so innocent.

Wow, what a difference a day makes. Over 100 here yesterday. In the low to mid 70's now with a significant marine layer. Gotta love being on the coast.

Good morning all! Yesterday turned out to be a weather bust - windy and cloudy all day with temps in the low 70s meant no pool time. Hoping for some sun today!!!

    Stay safe out there.

Mark: Do you have a heater for the pool? My parents had a pool and by the end of September it was time to close up the pool due to cool weather.

Took a break from yardwork yesterday and will be back on it this morning.

Good morning all - great weekend Mike - nicely done and what a compliment on your set-up with others wanting your services and knowledge.

Woke to freezing rain and cold temps (33) walked the boys yesterday in shorts and tshirt - sweets today. Snow is starting to drop now and is to continue until tomorrow morning now.

Got a lot done around the property over the weekend, a little winterizing and some touch ups to the new culvert set-up.

Have a great day everyone - be safe

Fires in Oregon, they are evacuating folks along the Mckenzie river east of Eugene. Here is the ash that accumulated overnight on my squash and my wife's patio cushions. Patio was covered with it too, but she was already hosing it off before I got out there. Last pic is the normally bright sun.
