put all my broverlander stuff back on. I also began figuring out a repair for my discount, knockoff of a knockoff tent. I'll explain below...

This hinge part for the vestibule began falling out of the tent floor 8 months ago. Both sides would fall out at different times. The tightness of the Phillips screws was too poor to maintain a good lock on those screws.

    Hinge:
    20200907_133208.jpg

Base of the hinge at the floor:
    20200907_133221.jpg

My original plan was to use stainless bolts with a washer and a nut going through the entire corner, trimming any excess. Sadly, I don't have the hardware for that. I did have slightly wider screws that I replaced the original ones with.

    New screws compared to old:
    20200907_134353.jpg

Basically, what I need is a combination of the parts in the following picture and to drill a hole through the corners. Is like to use a Nylok nut and 2" bolts, apparently in the 8-x or 10-x range. Kinda like these:
    20200907_135011.jpg

I think I'll leave it like it currently is, with the bigger screws, until I can do the hardware swap and drill. I'm now letting the tent air-out before the next batch of rain hits.

I think your idea for your tent could well. Also maybe adding a bigger plate below the hinge and perhaps another plate below the floor. If your willing to run a hole for a bolt through it. That could create a secure connect mounting point.

Add to you hinge issue could just add bigger plate under and go with some c clamps to mount as a temp fix too.

    Accurate lol

I thought about that, too, but the problem isn't the corner itself. It's the original holes for the hinge screws. Most of the tent is riveted together (I know because I've nearly rebuilt this entire tent lol). The hinges are almost the only parts that are bolted. I think a simple bolt+washer+Nylock (or lockwasher and standard) nut would be more than sufficient, considering I'm the 4th owner of this 6-year-old budget tent.

I've nearly 60 nights in this tent, making my time in it equal to all the previous owners combined lol.

Dang that's awesome, it's seen plenty of use so you know what your dealing with too. Think your plan will more than work since you've got that much exposure dealing with it. Usually easy to see a true fix that way.

Yeah, I've done a few bandaid fixes, like today, and even just screwing in the old screws lasts for thousands of miles.

I drive this truck with all that stuff on it daily lol.

Ah that makes more sense with daily use. I see people here with some RTT I know never been used. Probably full of mold lol

Over been rebuilding it over time.

Apparently, it's a King's 2-person of unknown model. A previous owner swapped the cover for a Tepui Kukenam cover, I used Tepui Kukenam straps (the cover straps were gone when I got it) and the mattress is some fancy one I forgot the name of. I've replaced almost every rivet and bolt in it and it still needs a replacement vestibule bar.

I think I've spent $50 repairing it, so I'm only at about $500 into this tent, so far.
