I've used my 88P exactly 3 times, sure hope it doesn't suffer the same fate!

I'm getting slightly nervous with all this talk lol.

All that said, I've used mine over 10 times by now and have only had it for 4 months.

It's entirely possible I got a bum unit (or the fuse, which blew, didn't do its job?)! I also have no idea how long @velogeek used his before his went (I think it was him earlier in the discussion).

I do think it's a bit of the "buy once, cry once" thing coming back to bite me though lol. Won't make that mistake with its successor!

Back in July I swapped bumpers and flare with @Cody23. He took my stock bumper for his SSO Slimeline Stage 2.

Mostly between dirt and mud road and the rain and baby duty I hadn't made any effort:crapstorm:

I’ve had my 88p for 4ish years now and it’s still going strong. I obviously don’t use it anymore now that I have larger tires, but used it on 255/80r17 for quite awhile as my primary air source. He must’ve gotten a bum unit.

I know it still works because I lent it to my neighbor recently.

What do you use now? Big philosophical question for me is whether to keep going portable or go for onboard.

Sweet. Was planning on waiting for a black friday sale but now I've got a regulator kit coming. There's an Airgas about 2 miles from my new apartment that is $30 to swap a 20lb so I'll probably try to find a used tank... according to the 5 welding supply shops I called, almost nobody in the area does fills so it'll probably be easier.

Dive shops used to do fills, may still, I haven't tried in a while. Did you try Roberts?

Well I'm moving west in a few days but it's more that finding a shop to swap out a 10 or 20lb tank is far easier on the road than finding someone to fill. The real benefit of just using a standard 20lb aluminum tank over the PT version is that if I find a shop who swaps and it's my only option, I can just swap. If someone fills and it's cheaper or I got a nice shiny tank the time prior, I can always fill. I just like to have options open because on a week long trip and being in the west, there's no knowing where I'll be able to get CO2... same reason I'll be keeping my compressor as a backup solution.

But really, even dive shops have moved on to swapping because of regulations. I wasn't aware it had grown so strict until @ilubtimmyhos was talking about it camping a couple months ago. The dude I talked to in Arizona said most who do the CO2 thing for trucks (unless they are just in it for appearances or short trips) tend to get swappable tanks because even with several Airgas locations around the valley only one depot fills and they distribute to the other locations for swaps.
