Have recently found a major issue when trying to take rifles to camp with my family. I don’t have enough room for all of our gear and rifles.

what’s some ways y’all transport and store rifles inside a DC truck? Anyone ever do anything with behind the seats or under the seats?

share ideas if you’ve done something.

    thanks

I put mine in a holder that hangs down across the back of the front seats. Got it at Bass Pro several years ago.

how much room does that take away from back seat passengers? My issue is space with the kids riding down to camp too.

No sorry but not with guns right now.
Flip up both sides and there's room all the way across.

havent tried that yet. But if you can post pics of yours and how they are secured Id be interested. I wonder how they would travel there without knocking the scopes....

Ive seen one kit produced for a gun int here and they always show a shotgun in the ad.

How old are your kids? I havent ran into this w my newly acquired family yet, but their feet dont hit the floor. I built a real simple platform that sits on the backseat when it's folded down that allows 2 cased rifles to sit there and then all my gear goes on top. I'm talking real simple: half inch plywood and a 2 inch dowel I cut into 6 inch lengths and ran a screw down into each. Could you put in a "false floor" high enough to get a rifle or 2 under without making the seats too uncomfortable? Unless you took out the plastic storage bins behind the seats there's no room for a rifle back there

Here’s an idea on how much room I have with mine. One rifle on the top row is doable, the passengers can put their legs under it. Two rifles is pushing it, they’ll be cramped. Three is too much

My kids are 11 and 14 and camp is a 2 hour drive.

I was kind of hoping to find some behind the back seat ideas even if i had to remove the OEM storage boxes.

Id have to take a minimum of two rifles. Kids might not approve of me taking what little room they do have back there.

You can probably shove one or two rifles in the cubby below the seats, depending on the shape and length. And then the other on the top of the backseat. Another option is behind the headrest on the backseat. It’ll be visible through the back window though, check ur local laws about that

I was going to suggest this lol. Then I read about the kids... I just ordered new seat covers last night and saw those from CoverKing. (I didn't buy those)

I like the idea.... but can’t risk them bumping a scope or something as it creeps on their leg room

Could you get a pelican case or equivalent and store them on the roof?

If they are ARs, I would just toss them in a duffel bag and in the bed. If they are something semi fancy, buy a pelican case or similar and toss in the bed. Leave an adult in the vehicle during stops at rest areas---OR, just keep the stuff covered and not really worry about it too much at rest areas.

If you remove the storage bins behind the back seat you can get a molle panel and attach them to that.
