Love my champion 4 core radiator and Spal e-fan.

Granted I don't really need it where I live, but hey it looks good.

The 1st gens I’ve owned blew so cold I had to turn the AC down on 100° summer days. The ‘15 stays on max and ... sorta takes the edge off a little :(

That settles that. The hybrids I was looking at do not seem to be much lighter than the full Pelfrey I have now so weight savings is going going to matter much.

I'm guessing this has something to do with changes in A/C refrigerant for environmental reasons. Overall, cars today are nicer, faster, etc, but the ones we owned ~20 years ago seemed to have better A/C.

I would have to agree there my 13' helps keep the heat down but man most days it can't hang and now with the S/C engine bay is super hot.

Are there any tricks to wrapping the lines or doing something to help reduce the heat affect on the A/C?

Want to revisit this post. I hit a new previously unachieved 250 miles per tank final both the other day and just very recently as well. Since I made this post, I have ran through 2 tanks actually and have put a lot of driving time in. Power has always been there on demand and I have reached a previously unsurpassed high as of this time while tracking my mileage. Not bad considering all the armor and all other things remaining the same.

That brings up my MPG from 14.08 to 14.36. Hell, I'll take it. I may remove my 1/4 skid and run skidless or switch to a much lighter one as I don't see a huge reason to run it these days. I don't know. The cost of losing that protection may outweigh the effects of the mileage gained but it is hard to say as I have not tracked my mileage running without the extra 84lbs of additional weight in the front. If I get the willpower to want to run that test I'll let you guys know.

I’ve been debating the same but going with a 3/16th over 1/4 thy I run as well. Prior to the S/C same truck setup I hit 255 on a trip to Utah ( they seem to have better gas) the S/C has made it hard to get back to it. I know weight has a big part but I was able to hit that N/A and grossly heavy. I’m hoping for 12. 13-14 would be epic. RIPP mentioned this week for sure is a new Tacoma product. I may grab these plugs too if I have to pull everything anyway. Thanks for always adding feedback

Does anyone know how restrictive stock catback actually is? Thinking of going back to stock to quiet my truck down since URD headers and Y pipe is getting annoying. Don’t currently have a stock one so don’t wanna spend the money if it’s super restrictive

I run the stock Y-pipe/exhaust on my truck which has the Spec-U Headers. I lost only 5 g/sec airflow going from the Spec-U y-pipe-and cat-back back to stock. For N/A Power levels, I do not believe the stock exhaust is holding the truck back much at all.

Curious, do you have sound deadened material installed?

I like hearing this from you. I was curious about headers and TRD exhaust being just as capable without the sound being an issue. I’m excited now

So after getting tired of my Innovate Boost gauge acting like a hunk of junk and tech support telling me to buy a new pressure sensor for $40 (it never worked right), I decided to swap out for a mechanical boost gaige from AutoMeter. Settled on the Autometer 5907 ES, 30inHg to 20psi.

    IMG_6718.jpg

I am sure if I had dug a little deeper aside from looking at the gauge diameter and scale, I would have realized just how deep this thing is. My plan was to mount it in my gaugepod, and I did, but I am not overly happy with the setup. Livable for now, but definitely is going to change later.IMG_6719.jpg IMG_6720.jpg

So off come the bolts on the back. Pull the wiring and tubing up through the dash, and since I have things halfway apart why not pull the gaugepod out far enough to get in back and snug up the pod bolts.

    IMG_6722.jpg

Naturally I am sweating like crazy, my allen socket slips out of my fingers, drops between my steering column and dash, only to enter the place of that small things go never to be seen again. Fuck. I will see you again someday my friend.

    IMG_6726.jpg

Not loving the way it sits, but the connections in back present an interference to the instrument cluster.

    IMG_6725.jpg

It comes with nylon tubing, also not loving that. It kinks easy and is not very forgiving in bends. I will probably change the nylon tubing out for silicone soonish, and ultimately find a new home for the boost gauge and try to settle on what should go in next to the AFR. I will clean it all up when I redo the tubing, right now - good enough until I take it apart again.

Initial impression after a short drive - Tracks much smoother than the Innovate and does provide an indication that seems to be in line with what I expect. The innovate would lock at 0psi and then jump like crazy under boost.

    IMG_6723.jpg

Since I am talking about gauges in the gaugepod... Here is the notch you have to cut in an AEM gauge bezel to make it fit into the gaugepod. You can only see it if you are right in there looking for it.

It was the pressure sense bro. You should had just gotten it. I have been using my innovate boost gauge for close to 5 years now and it has always been perfect. The fact it spiked from 0 to a ton of boost all of a sudden tells me that the diaphragm inside the sensor was sticking. :notsure: Oh well I guess.

Yea I’m going back to stock. I’ve added a resonator to the full URD setup and still too loud and I’d prefer the drone to be gone

Easy enough to go back with a new sensor if get fed up with the Autometer.

Had a nice scare this weekend thinking I toasted my motor. Was doing a few WOT runs at the sand drags and the motor fell on its face and lost cylinder 3. Was able to limp the truck off the sand into a parking lot with no noticeable engine noise, just the unbalanced feel of only 5 cylinders firing. Shut the truck down and pulled the codes . Cleared and restarted the truck and it's like nothing happened. Then I remembered @crashnburn80 post last November with a similar issue and someone mentioned the intercooler foam gasket getting sucked into the motor. Well I popped the intercooler lid and no sign of the gasket I had rtv'd back into place when I pulled the blower for cam gears.

Gasket is officially 1GR-FE devoured. Truck drove home with no issues. 2 hour drive at 80mph.

How many are running without the gasket?

    My shit is all stock.
Yeah, I received that email too. I checked it out. The headers I’m looking for aren’t on sale unfortunately.

I do find it hilarious that he’s used a picture of the headers to advertise the sale, but they aren’t actually on sale.
