Why do you call it a "faux" skid plate? Why so much less than what I have seen TW members pay?

I think they mean it’s not genuine OEM.

Compared to my friends OEM TRD Skidplate, it is about the same. Weights about the same. Powercoat is good, some super small chips, but nothing outside of quality control.

A manufacturer in Thai, that apparently makes the OEM Hilux skidplates, or so my sources say.

You can, however now shipping is going to be killer, only UPS or Fedex due to COVID and would bring the price close to OEM.
I got it cheap, cause it shipped through China Parcel/Singapore Post before the pandemic.

If you are still willing, PM me.

I appreciate that! With the insight you’ve provided, if I had to guess, me being in Hawai’i would only worsen the cost.:(

thanx for being a good sport.

$160 is a hell of a lot more reasonable than the $300-$400+ I see OEM going for. (and of course there’s something to be said for you get what you pay for, but if you’re happy with it and it does what it’s intended to!)

Once this pandemic is over, maybe you can get the cheaper shipping options. China Parcel takes forever, but save me a bunch.

Also just wanted the skidplate just for looks, for $160, I wouldn't even mind some major differences, as long as the bolt holes line up.

Turned out much better than my expectations.

Being in Hawaii, getting even the OEM skidplate shipped must cost a fortune.

    simple things for now
Finally got the time to change some fluids. Front/Rear diffs, trans and engine. No issues with the hex bolts on the front but going to look into the Lexus ( I think ) bolt replacement for next time. Fluids came out about as expected for 19000 miles. I do wish I would have done it earlier but at least its done now.

That is a sweet dish drying rack, complete with teak wood knife slots. Thats some high end dish drying you got going on. I need to step up my counter tops utensil game.

I had a nightmare that I traded my Tacoma in for a Ford Explode. When I got back home I wasn't sure if I was more pissed about getting an Exploder or that I left my personalized plates on my Tacoma 500 miles away.

Doesn't help that the powercoating is textured, so as I was sliding it over my body, it felt like sand paper. I was also fumbling with the bolts on install, mixed up the mid and rear bolts... I survived.

I am checking with them if they have an Alibaba page or an email. In Asia, they use either Line (Japan/Taiwan/Thai) or WeChat (China) for business most of the time.
