Eibach Pro Truck Coilover 2.0 Stage 2 up front with about 2" of lift, 1" block with Eibach Pro Truck Sport Shocks in the rear.

I did have the tires on for a few days before the lift and had no issues with rubbing.

Yes, stock UCAs. No rubbing, no spacers.

I loved the skinny tire look from the first time I saw it and decided to go that route instead of the typical fat tore route. I bought five Cooper ST MAXX tires and the spare fit up with just enough spare room to keep my mind at ease. Problem is, even for an all terrain tire, the more they wear, the noisier they get....enough to make my girlfriend bitch. They look great - nice muscular stance. But tires of this size all seem to be E rated and mine wore out too quickly, maybe 35K miles. But now I'm stuck unless I want to buy five tires of a different make and config. Any recommendations?

I had a similar noise experience with my FJ. So you have 4 worn 255’s and one pristine?

I rotated regularly but that only helped so much. I did notice that getting the tire pressure right helped, don’t recall specifics but I’m sure I was a bit below the oem spec.

Sometimes the tire shops will give you a little bit of money for a used tire in great shape.

Oh, and when I’m uncertain if I’m going to stay with a specific tire or size, i do a 5 tire rotation to wear them all out.

If anyone has a used 255/85/16 around Central California they'd be willing to give away or sell I might be interested. Still looking for a full size spare.

Just caught up on this entire thread. All 142 pages...I'm convinced this is the tire size for me. Can't wait to order and post pics.

I'm wondering if its a bad idea to go with a winter tire in this size. I just bought my Tacoma and I'm planning on lifting it eventually, but I don't want the winters to look small once lifted. I've ran combination tires in the past (Duratracs) and it was deadly in Quebec's winters. They were okay in the snow, but on ice, forget about it. I want a designated winter (Hakka LT3) and most likely a 33" 285/70/r17 mud tire once lifted. Do you guys think it will stuff the wheel wells too much at stock height for the winter till I lift the OR?

By most reports, yes 285’s will rub and a lift won’t help. You will need a cab mount chop.

Got my 255’s on this evening. Just gotta figure out how to get the spare under the bed now. No rub 2” lift factory wheels no wheel spacers.

No one makes a 255/80/17 or 255/85/16 snow tire that I’m aware of. I’m tempted to get a second set of the maxxis bighorns and have them aggressively siped and studded as a DIY winter solution, or just move to a 285 tire or go down to a 265/75/16 or 265/70/17.

From what I’ve read on here offset affects rub the most, and a 0 offset 8” wheel should clear the cab mount and UCA.

So who has experience with putting the spare under the truck did you relocate the lifting mount?

I just stuck my 255/85 16 under there, no mods no drama. It's been fine for a year now.
