oh gotcha. Yeah but his situation is a little different because there needs to be a financial advisor there or the dealership can't operate normally.

My company will bitch and moan about me not being here but they'll survive a few days, I'll just have a stack of BS to do when I get back but oh well.

We’ll have to figure out where we’re going to camp, I checked Arches Nat’l Park’s campsites and they’re all booked. I did find a few sites available out of the park though.

Additionally do we have like a day by day planned, what routes or what we’d do?

@Wulf maybe you have some advice.

Willow Springs Road. BLM land just north of town about 10 minutes. BLM378 is the road designation. Plenty of space and where we routinely camp as a group for MTB trips.

    https://goo.gl/maps/m2RSmXdnWiHtXeBP9

Find a spot and enjoy. The farther down the road you go, the less packed it is as it gets a little rougher and scares the 5th wheels and subaru crowd off for the most part. About a mile up, there's a 90* right hand turn. Id scope that area out first.

Klondike Bluffs about 20 mins north of town is usually a good spot as well, and usually far less crowded than Willow Springs, although its pretty exposed and desolate.

Gotta remember I'll be in a "Toyota Rav4 or similar" according to the rental company. So it needs to be accesible for that.

Not crazy about leaving someone elses car alone somewhere besides our campsite. My cheap ass didnt buy the insurance plan for it if anything happens.

I was always told those insurance plans are largely a waste of money, assuming you have decent car insurance of your own (that covers a rental), some credit cards cover them too

Although then again, might be different for those under 25

Not to hi-jack, but anyone in or around Moab Oct 5-7 and want to show some east-coasters a trail or two? We plan on staying in the maze in canyonlands unless someone has a better idea of a place to wheel/camp for 2 days. Thanks.

Youll be totally fine in a rav4 or similar. But a chevy eco shitbox might not.

You know how rental places are. Ask for a Rav4 and they give you a Chevy Sonic lol.

Like @Gunshot-6A BLM land will be your best bet. All of the BLM campgrounds with dedicated sites are first come first serve as well.

I would recommend picking out some trails in advance and determining who wants to do what. It sucks to show up and be standing around the parking lot at 8 am saying "sooo what are we gonna do today?"

Pick someone to lead a trail(s) run for each day, make sure that they have the trail planned out with directions, waypoints, comms, and have an understanding of the major obstacles and what the appropriate equipment is as well.. Assuming some people have plans to stay separate from the group make a plan to meet up and head to the trail together first thing in the morning.

I would start by considering stuff like Fins and Things and Gemini Bridges since those should be doable by anyone. Other picks for people on 33s+ with sliders, willingness to scrape, and ideally one locker would be Top of the World and Poison Spider Mesa if the weather is dry. You will find beautiful views almost any where you look, even if you aren't on a "hard" or "extreme" trail.

LOL, I always book a midsize and Avis always give me like a Nissan Titan, 3rd gen taco, a big Buick sedan. And one time all they had was a "dream ride" car and I promised to keep it under 500 miles, so they gave me the Dodge Hellcat. :burnrubber: I definitively lowered the residual value on that thing by at least a set of tires. Accidentally spun 'em with my boss riding shotgun before we got to the checkout booth thing where they look at your paperwork and license.

    Gemini bridges is minivan level

Fins is beginnermediate but quintessential "Moab".

Hell's Revenge isn't hard per se, but the consequences of messing up on it very much are.

No matter what, you'll have a blast. Views on point and worthy instabangers all around.

A Hellcat lol, holy crap. One time at the airport in Kansas City, MO we rented a car last minute and because it was a few days before Xmas all they could give us was a Dodge Challenger but it wasn't the supercharged v8, just the regular 5.7l one I think. But with a manual trans. I was stoked.

Unfortunately I couldn't have a lot of fun with it because the area was covered in ice/snow most of our trip
