I don’t want anything limiting my trucks throttle for any reason at any time. Except a reasonable rev limiter. Lol

I’m not really trying to change or fix something at the moment. I’m just not sure how to interpret the data I’m watching, so I just have fun watching the needle bounce around in obd fusion. Of course the curse is that when I do understand I will probably want to change something somewhere lol

VVT tables are definitely available in all tacoma ECUs.

Thanks @tonered, good stuff. Interestingly it's pretty clear the recommended octane:
Fuel Octane Rating 91 or higher

As it it will burn anything but use 91

Yes, saw that, but it does not correspond with driving experience.
    Example.
per that table, rpms between 1600-1700, Load between 70-80, target for intake is 44-48.
Real live - intake goes 53-56, rpms drop by ~400, while the accelerator, throttle goes up, no shifting, no TC locking/unlocking.
1-2 sec later. Engine spools up to demanded rpms
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

That has come up before. It is 91 RON which is our 87 AKI.

You are right that the engine is designed for 91 AKI and is retarded back to use 87 AKI.

    Just in case:

Your RPM drops from 1600 to 1200 and there is nothing happening with the transmission? VVT cannot make the RPM change. Think about it. It has to be something else.

Thanks. Not sure how I missed that table. Seeing the stock plot of advance angle vs load vs engine speed helps me understand what is going on too.
I don't think I have the knowledge to go messing with timing yet, but looking forward to the webinars, hopefully they will cover the basics of this in more detail.

Chrome and google have been nothing but headaches lately. They seem to block all kinds of stuff lately for no reason. I pretty much use safari and Firefox these days.

Been thinking, that is why I'm raising the question. The timing of advancing the intake/retarding exhaust is corresponding with a dip in rmps. Everything else suggests that rpms should be rising.
It is happening in 3rd gear, Tc usually unlocked. I started looking at all tranny solenoids state just to make sense of of it.
let me know if want to look at the log.
Far right flag in the pic.

You can hit the Details button and click 'visit this site.' Also, hit that checkbox so that it may clear this issue up for @OVTune .

I had a problem registering a product to get FW download support over the weekend. I tired both Chrome and Edge and was getting errors on every page beyond the login. FireFox got me in and setup up. If that didn't work, I was ready to click on the last version of IE. :D

It’s amazing how putting everything on the web was supposed to make things “universal”.. now i need to have 7 browsers and hope one of them works. And pray i don’t need java, flash or activeX controls.

I keep a clean state windows 7 and windows 10 VM because thats the only way to make some things work. I also have a repo of old installers (java and others) because some of that stuff is getting increasingly difficult to find if you need it.

The world was supposed to get easier? All that seems to have happened is more complexity for some increased speed to acquiring info. It is worth it? I'm undecided and usually miss the simpler age.

There were a couple important sites that I was on recently and still required Flash or Java. IMHO, both did some cool things? I find it hard to believe that they cannot be made secure. Maybe they were easier to code with, but it is funny that they are going away and these sites still rely on them.

I'm confused by this. The PDF you posted is referencing 91 RON? Which is 87 AKI here. But then you say the engine is designed for 91 AKI? I run 86 because it's cheap and I'm too dumb to know or see a difference. Might step up to whatever the closest local option to 91 is and reflash, unless 93 is the distinction between the regular and premium tune.

87-89 regular tune, 91-93 premium tune.

Designed as in the other applications, esp on the Lexus side, requiring 91 AKI.

For the Taco, it runs just fine on 87, esp with the tune. I wouldn't go higher unless you are finding some real benefit. More power or a cost / mpg offset. I am seeing enough additional mileage to offset the cost, so I am running 92 for now.
