    Hey guys and gals--

Went in for my Tonsillectomy the other day. Apparently they were almost the size of golf balls, and I'm only 26. A few friends tried to tell me just how bad this is going to be, recovering from it all. I had them taken out on Friday, and it's now 4:00am on Monday and I'm awake, on hydrocodone, working my arse off. I can't get my mind to shut off, but physically I feel horrible, can't swallow anything, and the pain killers (liquid) go up my nose (burns!).

A few friends are going to start taking turns spending some time with me... I hear it's worse as you get older, so me being 26 is a bit more of a living hell than youngin's. Who here has been through this recently?

not recently, but I did have it done in high school and it was not fun. the first week was the worst, felt like swallowing razors. the old ice cream routine was worthless, the sugar just made the burning worse.
I only missed a few days of school but didn't feel great. The second week was a bit better. I drank a ton of water just to keep it moist.

I was not lucky enough to get the pain meds though. Hang in there, it will be over before u know it then the benefit of not having a swollen throat ever time you get sick is a blessing. I used to swell all the time then ended up getting an ulcer on one of them, the Dr finally said, well its time to take them out.

Oh man, you did this without pain killers? I'm loving the hydrocodone, outside of it going up my nose and burning when I try to take it.

Hydro's are fun.. but enjoy them too much, and they will fuck your life up!

    I'm 22, got mine out when I was 20.

Theres two different proceedures to get them removed. Kids can have theirs burned out. But for some reason as we get older we are required to have them cut out. Which is what I had done, and by the sounds of it thats the same thing you had done.
I was on T3's with codine for a while. It's a living hell for first week, after that your goodish. Two pieces of serious advice, and its kinda nasty:

    1) I ended up swallowing so much blood I was constipated to the point I didn't poo for 5 days. If your swallowing alot of blood, start drinking Pooping tea. It'll still filter threw you because its liquid where as the pills might not work if your that backed up. (I told you it was nasty)

and 2) I was 20, I went and got shit faced 12 days after..... just don't do it... seriously.

Not LDS.. not getting shitfaced any time soon, but damn, what I would do for some Orange Chicken. I'm on day 6, and doing well. Barely taking hydro, out each day, and working on side stuff a lot. Wish I.could keep to a normal sleep schedule. This coming week should be fun, being a mime in the office and all. They cut mine out, almost golf ball sized.

I had mine removed in 1968 when I was 7. I even still have the Matchbox toy cars I got from my dad for being so good through it:D They're OLD but still nice.
