    Anybody know if the Bastrop trails are still a go? I'd like to play in some mud if possible.

    Nope. City stepped up and put a stop to it.

    Thanks for the info. The most recent threads I found on Bastrop were a few years old.

    I was there last Friday. Really cool place. Looks like I'll have to start budgeting for more trips over there.

    My daughter and I went to visit my lady at work; she’s stationed at St. David’s in Bastrop. We couldn’t resist exploring the fabled Tahitian Village. That’s a fun play spot and bigger than I anticipated. Picked up a bunch of trash in a few locations so we left it better than it was. Also, had to make a stop at Buc-ee’s!

    A little something every chance we get.
    Hey ATX folks! Anyone interested in a (2) 12pack Weber 22" Kettle with a nice King Kong cover? Only used by a little old guy for ribs and turkeys. Can be delivered to a reasonable meet up? New ones are expensive, I just can't have 3, and I wants a smoker! Only slightly out of round so cover is fussy but fits when sitting still. Obligatory pix;

    That's a nice pic. We really want to get out there. What were temps like? Also, why the trail closures?

    The temperature was tolerable, mostly mid 80’s, I think it hit 91 briefly at some point Sunday, I evening was wonderful and the nights got down into the high 60’s.

    The trail closures are part of the COVID restrictions, they are not monitoring the 4WD trails. I was told that they will remain closed until the end of the year. The bunkhouse is also closed.

    There are still a lot of trails to explore, just not the more challenging ones. I was mainly there to scout out some of the Mtn bike trails and was disappointed the Soltario area was closed.

    I planned to return with my grandson in November, but may postpone until the Solario area is open. I will try to post some pics later, it is one of the few really wild areas of Texas that you can explore with little traffic and only a few restrictions.

    I lived there as well the last 2 years of high school, and my parents lived there from 92-11. You can guess why they left in 2011.:oops:

    Heh something like that, when you get $250 per tree x100 from the home insurance company on top of replacement cost of the home and contents due to a big ass FAHR. That damn thing burned the organic material out of the damn soil it was so hot.
