Sweet. It's a 3 hour trip each direction for me too.

 

Planning to do North - South, or South - North?

 

South -> North

 

I'm a new wheeler with just a small lift, tires, sliders, and so far just a front skid. Would I be a hindrance or anything? It's just over 2 hours from me.

It's not the distance, it's the bridges. You can go 3 hours but if you need to cross that bridge...that's just too far.

The RI paradox - everyone from RI is proud to be from RI, every transplant is proud to NOT be from RI.


I really would like to go, if anyone else goes another weekend let me know - it would be cool to see how a completely stock OR does on some of these trails around new england. I'd say maybe sometime into next summer I'll still be completely stock.

Well with that statement I can tell you aren't from RI! Almost everyone I know from RI says it's beyond 5 - 10 minutes it's too far!

 

yup! But, I am adopting the mentality - I will basically go from EP out to Providence, or Seekonk, or Barrington. Outside of that little Bermuda triangle, too far.

 

i actually love the state now that i live by the water, hated it when i lived in pvd

i drive all over for work so i'm not afraid to drive, but the town i live in now has everything i need. i literally never leave my town anymore haha

 

What's the worst thing that could happen? You'll come across something you aren't comfortable with, and decide you'd be better off turning around to pick your way out. Nothing wrong with that if it comes to it, but I think you'll be fine. We should have some experienced folks, and a few like me with some experience and an abundance of caution, along on the drive who can help spot you through any really tough sections if needed.

 

Next time you make a trip up my way, I know of another short drive I could take you on, but I wouldn't come all the way just for that.

 

Well I don't want to hold everyone up! Like if you guys are bombing through trails and I'm crawling along needing my hand held! I think I will try to make it though

 

Raptor trails are fun to bomb. When it comes time to crawl, I go slow. @mach1man001 knows that I am of the mindset that fast == fun BUT with slow technical stuff, as long as the line doesn't stop a stock truck from making it, I've tended to keep up with built up rigs just because people aren't about bashing their stuff around. It's fun to go fast when you can, but crawling and whatnot, people (myself included) tend to slow it down.

That's the last thing you need to worry about with my trips. I have a blast introducing new folks to this sort of stuff (previous lives have seen me as both a snowboard and mountain bike instructor) and I recognize that we all start somewhere. You'll never get left behind intentionally on my trips.
