TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Have those on my car. Beautiful, but hard on my wallet. That was back in the day when my credit was better

 

I ran mine like that for a little while and then noticed there was about 1/8" of belt not riding on the pulley. I have heard of others running it without modification too though. Maybe I screwed something up along the line somewhere? Wouldn't be the first time

 

I remember that. I figured I'd gotten lucky somehow. My belt IS right on the very edge of the idler though.

 

Could be a change in design because the Roush pulley is wide. I dunno. Not sure I want to run any spacers behind the bearing for the standoff. The standoff mount is shallow on mine compared to the Maggy tensioner. If it's an 1/8", I'll try some washers behind the bracket. I just wanted it to be ready for install. Thanks for the tip though!

 

Def don’t need a valve adjustment. As long as you keep everything in the same sport should be spot on. You can always check with a feeer gauge after to make sure. Super easy to do.

 

But should he be looking to get a slightly thicker gasket from Cometic to make up for the few thousandths that will be taken off? @Torspd ?

Has anyone just run the OBD2 gauges digitally? I had mine on my iPad up over the weekend being fed by my OBD, but wondered about accuracy

 

Anyone have a pulley pressfit tool they can loan me here in TX?

 

The problems I see with that are availability of the data we'd want via ODB2 and, as you mentioned, accuracy. I don't think things like Boost, Oil Pressure, or Fuel Pressure are even available without aftermarket sensors. AFR data is available, but the ECU doesn't recognize it outside a pretty narrow range. (I'm sure others more knowledgeable than I will correct me, as needed.)

I actually checked the clearances and ordered different size lifter buckets in order to bring the specs in to Kelford’s recommendations. I did one side at a time, and it took the dealership weeks to get the new buckets in, so by the time I got to the other side, I didn’t have time to order replacement buckets before the snow came - and the clearances on the driver’s side are still stock.

It’s not noticeable, although when I floor it now the truck steers a little toward the left.

 

boost, fuel pressure and oil pressure are all available on the OBD Fishion

 

I don’t think boost is available. I don’t think manifold pressure is measured by the ecu. But air flow would be.

 

So for everyone running bourdon tube/mechanical gauges or deep body gauges like the autometer - what did you do for mounting in the Taco? I already like it better than the Innovate I had, but really not loving the way it mounts in the gaugepod, at least the way I have it now.

Weee bump in compression although I'd love a Cometic gasket, I fear of hopping down the rabbit hole further..

Thanks for the reassurance. Will measure when I get the cams back in. The machine shop didn't push me to get it done. The valve stems seals were an afterthought so I'll save it for a spare motor build.
